Pleasant staycation
It was a nice stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was well designed sot it gives you comfort that you need. The amenities are complete. The wifi worked well. The provided snacks specifically for you. I'd like to come back for sure.

Good concept and staff, pity about the management
The hotel was thoughtfully conceived and designed. The members of staff are warm and helpful and try their best. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The management however is clearly not doing a good job to maintain the hotel. The bathtub was heavily spotted with mould on the waterproof grouting. The clear plastic shower mat was so completely caked in mould we had to throw it in the bin. The bathroom amenities come in plastic bottles so hard that it is impossible to squeeze anything out of them. The wifi connection was possibly the worst we have ever experienced in our many trips to Indonesia. There was a cockroach in the room. We requested three times to have the leak in the toilet bowl fixed (caused by a faulty ballcock), to no avail. There are barely any diners in the restaurant, so we were not surprised the satay accompanying our nasi goreng was still frozen inside. There was also only one music CD (of nostalgic Dutch colonial era music) that looped over and over again the entire day, so if you spend more than a night, it becomes maddening.

They gave me some fruits with a welcome note. How sweet. I was sick they brought me some tea and they didn't want to charge me. I ordered some fried rice, they gave me for free. Thank you thank you. They are very kind and friendly and polite. You guys are the best.

Hotel was very clean and new. Solid breakfast. There is no real workout room or facility, the room has 1 treadmill which is broken and 1 bicycle (was disappointed since asked in advance by phone and receptionist indicated they did indeed have work out facility). overall stay was ok.

A rising star
I had a great stay. A very well renovated colonial building. Interior arrangement and furnishing is wonderful. Some points to improve: - Hot water for shower was not stable. The water could occasionally get very hot during shower. Very unpleasant experience. - Need electric sockets that work with any plug, so international traveler would not need to request for adaptors. - Need more electric sockets in each room... laptops, mobile phones, power banks, gadgets. :) - Friendly staff is not enough. They have to be equipped with knowledge of Malang's good restaurants, points of attractions, etc. - Would be great if the telephone unit has hands free speaker. - Would be great if the restaurant is further developed toward a "celebrity" type; with a focus on local cuisine and perhaps a few Dutch / Indo-Dutch fusion (colonial) menu. - I think a simple but high quality a la cart breakfast would be better for a boutique hotel with only 40 plus rooms, rather than a buffet with a large selection of poor menus.

This hotel IS underated!
Everything in this hotel is wonderfull. I loved the ambient inside our room. I also loved the way they decorate this hotel, I feel like I was in the colonial age with some modern touch. Wonderfull! And, the Tong-Tong festival! It was awesome! I was stayed on executive room and it was great!! I can write many good things from my experience while staying in this hotel but I try not to be heard like a sales guy. Thank's to Mr.Sanjoyo and Ms. Putri and to all the hotel's staff for your hospitality & exellent services.
