It is known for the blue washed walls and doorways in the old city. Narrow alleys, cobbled walkways, stairs up and down, leading in all directions.

Chefchaouen's powder blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky - but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread with tekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God's power. The tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings.

The walls are adorned with carpets, purses, blankets, paintings and much more. It was quite an adventure to get lost in the tiny lanes and alleys and discover the many berber shops and products.

'Our family enjoyed staying in this clean, 2 bath, 2 bedroom condo. We appreciated comfy beds, clean linens and laundry machine. There was toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo which made us feel welcome and at home. Kitchen is fully equipped for family breakfast. The location is great - marina and beach - 5 min walking distance, medina - 15 min walk. Restaurants, cafes, shops, night life - everything is conveniently close. '

'The apartment was spacious and clean. I like that there was a washer and dryer. However, the dryer did not work and we couldn’t figure out why the wash cycle was so long. I tried to follow the instructions for the TV but couldn’t figure it out. Also I knew there was no shower but the bathtub was too skinny for me to sit and there was minimal hot water.
