Meifod itself offers a friendly, small-village atmosphere with a local pub and shop within walking distance, and is surrounded by wooded hills, riverbanks, and farmland, making it a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

Just a short drive away, Welshpool (6 miles) offers a great mix of shops, pubs, and restaurants, alongside attractions such as the charming Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and the grand Powis Castle and Gardens, known for its impressive terraces and world-class formal gardens. Montgomery and Llanfyllin, two other historic market towns, are also close by and well worth a visit for their character, independent shops, and cafés.

For lovers of the outdoors, the Shropshire Hills and Snowdonia National Park are both within reach for hiking, cycling, or simply taking in the incredible scenery. The Mid Wales coast is also just over an hour’s drive (42 miles), with sandy beaches, seaside villages, and harbour towns to discover at your own pace. Lake Vyrnwy, where birdwatchers will also be very much in their element thanks to the RSPB reserve and a wide variety of native species.
