We have absolutely adored our stay here, we could not have picked a better place to spend our first couple of nights together. The scenery was stunning, the air fresh, the area tranquil, and the cottage itself was more lovely and comfortable than we anticipated. Tessa and Stewart are wonderful hosts and communicated very well. Cannot recommend highly enough, will definitely be back.

Beautiful cottage with lovely views - it was so peaceful and secluded .The cottage is finished to a high standard , we had very cold spring weather (2cel & under) but were toasty warm with wood fire on every night - hosts were charming - everything was perfect games/books/music wine & meals are also available - luxury rural stay

Perfect Getaway!
We wanted some peace and quiet and to have a rest away from it all over New Year, and five nights at Mountain Ash was the perfect choice! The drive up Mt Toolebewong, the magnificent views, the comfy, spotlessly clean cottage with everything we could possibly wish for made sure of that! We even had a delicious three-course meal cooked by a local chef delivered to our door on NYE for an extremely reasonable extra cost. We didn’t need to go anywhere, although it is a short drive to all the conveniences and delights of the Yarra Valley. Did I mention the views? We loved it! One of the best we’ve stayed in, and we’ve stayed in a lot!

Exceeded expectations!
We had the most wretched weather and it didn't matter one bit because this property was so beautiful. We felt at home even as it felt like a complete break. They thought of everything. One thing: we think the spa wasn't working! Very child and dog friendly (we didn't bring our dog but could have) and so many beautiful surprises on the property including the gorgeous lily pond. Thanks so much :)

Really glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Not sure what happened about the spa but it seems to be working as it should, maybe the pump button wasn't pushed far enough? We are happy to have children stay. Our policy has always been to not allow pets. It is a very natural area with many native animals and birds. We feel pets may disturb that and we want to keep faith with our guests who may choose to stay only where pets are not allowed. We look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Victoria's best kept secret
As we ascended the lush beautiful road into Lyrebird cottages, an absolute sense of awe and calmness envelop you. Serene, picturesque, stunning in every way. Beautiful cottage perched right atop Mt Toolebewong amongst stunning bushland with the most incredible views over Yarra valley and Melbourne. An absolute credit to Stewart and Tess, this has got to be one of the best getaways in Australia.

Peaceful tranquillity
We loved our stay at Mount Toolebewong. Such a great spot with plenty of wildlife (saw a wombat for the very first time) and a sense of coziness of being out in the bush. Stewart was such a great host and made sure he was there to help us with anything. The cottage was extremely tidy and clean, plus there was everything we needed to have a comfortable stay. We would definitely recommend this getaway and look forward to staying there again.

Great experience, amazing way to spend a quiet birthday!
Communication with the property managers was great from the beginning. They answered all our questions and were amazing hosts. The property was in great condition, very clean and had all the basic amenities we needed. We had an amazing time and will surely go back.

Had a great 2 night stay here. Very peaceful and lovely surrounds. Views from bedroom and loungeroom. Fitted out really well with books, games, DVDs and CDs. Breakfast foods included, fireplace, comfy bed, and nice owners. Definitely recommend!

Gorgeous
Mountain Ash cottage was the perfect place. While there is obviously plenty to do in the surrounding area, leaving is really not necessary! The cosy cottage has many nooks for two people to enjoy each others company, and a fully equipped kitchen to cook some food if you don't want to order some food from Tessa and Stewart. The hosts are very accommodating, respecting our space but also checking in to ensure everything was well with our stay. We highly recommend this stay, particularly for any couple wanting a few days of quiet while enjoying nature.

Great location
We enjoyed our stay apart from waking up to no electricity on our last day. We ended up packing up and leaving earlier than planned as it was absolutely freezing not being able to turn the heaters on. I am still waiting for a reply from the owner about that issue. A shame our weekend had to end abruptly due to this. There was also a constant unpleasant smell in the bathroom, issues with the plumbing I assume.

So sorry you experienced the power outage that began about 4.00am. It was a cold winter morning. Ausnet was able to restore it at 8.30 about 30 minutes after you left. I have no idea what the smell was and no other guests have mentioned it. My apologies and I will investigate it. Tessa and Stewart

We were made so welcome by Tessa when we arrived (there was even a beautifully wrapped Christmas gift for us!) Every single detail was taken care of and we enjoyed an unexpectedly magical misty Christmas morning wrapped in blankets with a pot of tea on the balcony. Bliss. We'd be back in a heartbeat and couldn't recommend more highly.

Autumn is a lovely time of the year when the leaves are full of colour in the garden. You were just two weeks early for the chestnut harvest which we invite our guests to share. Everything was as a advertised. Really nice cottage in a beautiful spot. My only complaint is that the owner showed up unannounced in relation to a dishwasher that needed to be installed, which I felt was a slight invasion of our privacy. I'd recommend aside from this.

Dreamy romantic getaway
We checked in at 11pm and arrived at our cosy cottage nestled in the tree. We noticed straight away how clean, tidy and welcoming this property was. Following our restful night in a very comfy bed! We started our our midweek getaway with complmentry bacon and eggs. Produce was delicious and very fresh. We then spent the following day cosying up by the wood fire. With plenty of board games, music and DVD's it is the perfect getaway for couples, friends or small families. We thoroughly enjoyed our romantic getaway and will be returning! Cosy luxury amongst the trees
What a find. We stayed in the Mountain Ash cottage which was perfect for a romantic getaway. This elevated little retreat has views to the city from the wrap-around deck and access to meander the surrounding forest in search of lyrebirds and wombats. Otherwise, you might like to stay in by the log fire with something selected from the bookcase, dvd or games shelf. The fully equipped modern kitchen was a delight to cook in and alternatively a la carte meals were available. Thank you for your welcoming hospitality and sharing your lovely place with us.

Winter escape
Lyrebird cottage is as advertised, a very clean, comfortable, warm place for our short stay, the only down side for us was the lack of wildlife, but this is of no reflection of the owners. Lyrebirds could be heard along with kookaburra and lorikeets.

Our experience was lovely, the power was out and the owner arranged a generator so we still had power. Check in was smooth and Tessa was lovely and accommodating. We saw the eponymous Lyrebird and Healesville and Warburton are very pretty. I would love to come back when the snow falls.

We are only 1 hour and 10 minutes from Hoddle street in Melbourne but surrounded by native forests and animals with only the sounds of birds. Melbourne can be seen in the distance and the nearest vineyard cellar door is only 10 minutes away. Really glad you enjoyed your break from city life and hope to see you back when you next stay in the Yarra Valley.
