Don't take off your shoes!
Due to limited availability in the area, this residence was booked. The house was filthy. I had to ask the home owner to mop and vacuum. (and still not done successfully) One shower was completely clogged with hair and could not be used. The house smelled like a bug bomb when entering and by the end of the first day, large ants were everywhere in the kitchen.

It was nice stay. The property has a pond and little creek running through the green field with flowers. It was pleasant to have dinner at the patio overlooking the creek. Well equipped kitchen, washer/dryer available for guests. We arrived late, around 6 pm, but the house was not ready. The host apologized and suggested few restaurants at Chester. We had to wait for another 1,5 hr while the place will be ready. The bathtub has drainage problem. Windows have a lot of spider webs and dead flies. Very convenient if you visiting Lassen park.

It was hard to find to start. Wifi didn't work, toilet with poop hadn't been flushed, bathtub had black hair around the drain and spiders, black ants in the kitchen. For what I paid, I certainly expected this to be much better. Would not reccomend.

Great place to stay for Lassen
The place is clean and cozy and the property manager was attentive and available (not that we needed much). It has all the basics and we had no problems settling in. There's a nice covered deck area around back which is great for coffee and bird watching in the AM. It's 20 mins to Lassen and 10 mins to Chester which is the closest town with amenities like gas and groceries. Definitely recommend.

Great place, nice owner!
The house amidst forested mountains is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The sound of a little creek running by is peaceful and soothing. It is close to the South West Entrance of Lassen National Park, Warner Valley, and Lake Almanor. The place is clean and safe, and you the owner is very accommodating. Would come to stay anytime!

Cute, quiet, and simple.
We rented this place to go snowshoeing for the weekend at Lassen National Park during February. The property was ok, it’s behind the owners home and a closed down hotel. It wasn’t terribly dirty but definitely needed some deeper cleaning. Not enough space heaters and it got real cold during the night. The kitchen was not stalked with basic cooking things, luckily we came prepared. I message the owner for a 1hr late check out but never got a response. I wouldn’t mind staying again, even though i wish we felt free to explore the property since it’s in a beautiful forest.

Exactly what we needed
It was perfect for us and pretty much what we were looking for/what we expected. We travelled with two young children and appreciated Walter's flexibility in meeting our needs/requests. His communication was excellent and he was really helpful in answering some of the questions we had before we arrived! The cottage could be a tad bit cleaner (eg, cobwebs as well as spots here and there) but really, nothing major to complain about as the essentials were all there. Our family enjoyed our stay here!

Good cabin close to Lassen NP
We had a nice stay at the cabin with four adults. The location close to Lassen NP made it a perfect spot for our XC skiing trips. The cabin was cozy warm and well equipped and communication with the owner speedy and helpful. The only minus was the cleanliness of some of the floors and bathrooms but overall a great stay and we'd come back for another trip.

Lovely cabin in the mountains.
We had a lovely stay here in the mountains. The place was spotless and I like the blend between rustic decor and the colorful wall art. Walter dropped everything and got us checked in at an odd hour. Truly top notch.

We enjoyed our stay here. This place is clean, spacious and very conveniently located for visiting Lassen National Park. Walter was waiting to let us in when we reached. We were particularly impressed with the open kitchen and dining area. Unlike most VRBO properties, the kitchen is very well equipped with functional knives, pots and Pans!

Great location for going to Lassen Volcanic National Park
We stayed for 4 nights in late September. We wanted to be close to the park but not camp and this is a good location for that. It was very quiet and you can take a walk in the wooded area behind the house. The kitchen was big and had a nice selection of cookware. Definitely bring all of your own food. There are a few good restaurants in Chester but their hours are limited (most only open Thur-Sun). Tap water at the house was perfectly good for drinking (mentioning this because we have stayed places where the water made our camelbacks smell funny!) Checking in and out was easy and Walter was friendly and responsive. I was glad we had printed maps ahead of time -- there is spotty cell service in the entire area. I do have to say I wished the house had been cleaner. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Pro - 30 minutes from Lassen Park Cons - house needs a thorough cleaning especially the rear porch and window frames, inside of refrigerator dirty, outside of house in poor condition, no front porch, no WIFI service and no cell service! DISH TV service not connected, no TV instructions, front door handle about to come off, area run-down, very close to other buildings - would not recommend.

Comfortable cabin
This is a clean, comfortable, quiet home near Lassen Volcanic National Park. The room with twin beds is a little small, but the rest of the house is bigger than expected. The kitchen is reasonably well equipped and the beds were comfortable. It's about 20 minutes from the Southwestern entrance to the park and 15 minutes from the town of Chester on Lake Almanor. The host was quite helpful, we enjoyed it and would stay again

Good location but a bit rustic
Bottom line: this place is good enough for Lassen travel, but not top of the list. We were a family of 2+2, and the house could fit 4 people with enough space, hot showers every night, and spacious kitchen. With that, it needs a serious update. Specifically, there were two things that really bothered us: Internet connection was *very* spotty. I know this is a remote area, but this was weak even compared to the area. The connection was completely unreliable, which is an essential these days. Second, after a few days of using the water in our water-bags, we noticed strange yellow color in it. We don't know if it's good or bad (could be something natural), however we wish our kids wouldn't have drink that. Walter was very friendly. He made a human error about the dates on the first night of our arrival, which caused us to go and find a motel in a small town at 9PM, however made an honest attempt to fix it ASAP, and came personally to help with cleaning the place. The surroundings of the house are very nice, with a large area for kids to run around, deer visiting, and a nice pond. We had everything we need, but- again, it's pretty dated (e.g. the kitchen utensils/amenities, the BBQ etc.). If you plan on spending most of your day hiking in Lassen area this is definitely good enough.

I went with my family and we all loved staying at this house. It was conveniently located, with beautiful surroundings, great views, well equipped and very comfortable. I would love to stay there again and explore more of Lassen Park next time.

The house is a nice size for a family of 4 and is close to the Lassen park. The owner is very nice and helpful and even called me before I came to ensure that I could find it. The place could be a bit cleaner (there were still used coffee grounds in machine and you really don't want to look down the back of the couch), but overall we were very happy.

This is a 2-bedtime 2–bath house with living room, kitchen, and laundry, located in a calm relaxing country site, with a mountain as the backdrop. It’s far more homey than a hotel. We had a nice stay there. The facility is clean. We just would like to confirm that the bedsheets and pillow cases are freshly washed and changed, since there is no way to know. It has WiFi signal, but the reception was so weak that we couldn’t got on to even check the outside temperature.
