Overall, we had a lovely stay at Hotel Villa Edera e La Torretta. It's in a nice setting, very private, and a good location for both Moneglia itself and the train to other towns, including the Cinque Terre. The dining and the wine tasting were both very good, and the staff were friendly and very helpful. On site parking is tight, but nothing tricky. The grounds are attractive and the pool is lovely, with lots of beds.
I can see this family-run hotel is trying to take itself upmarket and add new services, such as a wellness offer, but I think the price point is a bit high at the moment as the transformation is not yet complete. For reference, we had just come from a beautiful Tuscany city where we had a modern suite with a balcony and separate sitting room. No pool, but it was half the price. The decor and some of the furniture of our room felt dated. There were teddies in boxes on the wall, and some amateurish art. There is now a picture of this room on the web, but if I had seen it before I wouldn't have booked. We had two balconies but one looked over the car park. The other was high sided and when seated, there was no view.
Apparently there's a gym, but we weren't shown it.
We found the breakfasts a bit strange. There's very little on the buffet, so that looks a bit sparse. Cheese, ham, etc is to order along with the cooked fare. I wasn't especially impressed with the hot food.
Most of what I've mentioned are niggles, it's a nice place. Just a bit expensive right now.
