Apart huis
Zeer groot en aangenaam herenhuis. De deuren en plafonds zijn echt wel bijzonder. Wel kleine keuken voor zo'n huis. Je moet echt wel je beurt afwachten tot je kan koken. Voor de rest qua infrastructuur geen opmerkingen. Communicatie met anderen was moeilijk daar ik geen Spaans en zij geen Engels praatten. Al bij al ben ik zeker niet ontevreden van m'n verblijf in dit huis.

Hi, Tom. We remember you. It was great to have you with us. We appreciate all the criticisms and try to be always better. Usually people want to cook at the same times, so it really is necessary to wait in turn to cook. It is a Hostel kitchen, and for everyone to enjoy it, you must have patience. We are in Uruguay and a lot of people do not speak English, it's true. But it is also true that many guests do not struggle to speak Spanish, which is the local language. But two other volunteers speak English. Communication was never our problem. We're sorry you felt frustrated.

unieke sfeer in koloniaal hotel
Een hele aparte ervaring. De eigenaar heeft hier goedkope en jonge stagiaires neergezet vanuit de hele wereld. En die doen dat uitstekend. Samen met wat vaste hotelgasten levery dat een goede sfeer op.Het dakterras met uitzicht en de woonkamer/keuken met hoog plafond in koloniale stijl zijn super. De oude wijk rond dit hotel biedt weinig, maar nog altijd meer dan de rest van deze saaie en deprimerende stad.

It was so smokey, which we didn't like. Has a nice little terrace. It's a little old and wreck place. Had to go one floor up to use the female bathrooms. We didn't like the lock of the room, it has a hole and can be easily peeked through.

Hello and thanks for your stay. Normally there should be no smoking indoors, so guests can only smoke on the balcony or on the roof terrace; sorry if this was not observed during your stay. I have checked the door of the room where you stayed, and it is not possible to peek through the hole (as long as the key is in place).

Insegura, inadecuada y sin ningún tipo de condición, no aire acondicionado, nada de privacidad, debían de ser clausurado,( son personas agradables )tengo más de 15 años reparando hoteles, y sé de qué hablo, nada que ver con las foto de publicidad.

到着した時、頑丈な木製の扉が開かず、番号つきの呼び鈴をどうしたものかと、何回か押したところ、マダム登場。スペイン語オンリーなので、チェックインに時間がかかるかも。歴史ある建物をリノベした快適な部屋だけど、エアコンなし、扇風機あり。シャワーとトイレは共用で、まあ、合格点かな。キッチンは使えますが、電子レンジはさっぱり使えず。素泊まりならよし。翌日のツアー出発が8時と早くなり、連絡できず、タオルと鍵を置き手紙で戻しました。支払い済みだし、何もお金がかかることはないので、問題ないと思いました。マダムがどこにお住まいか、スペイン語できないので、わからずじまいなのが、少し残念。若者が長く滞在しているようでした。港から徒歩圏内なので、助かりました。部屋にテレビはありません。共有スペースに大画面TVがありましたが、見ずに終わりました。

Este lugar es un auténtico lujo en cuanto a su relación calidad precio. Habitaciones sencillas pero más que suficiente, cómodas y amplias. Zonas comunes perfectamente equipadas y una situación a escasos metros de todo lo que hay que visitar en la ciudad vieja. El personal super amable. Lógicamente no esperes lujos pero si un lugar agradable y más que adecuado para descansar.

Difícil de ubicar: No hay letrero que indique que es un hospedaje. | Cucarachas pequeñas en la cocina y vomito en el baño. | Personal desatento y descortés. | Desagradable ambiente sin privacidad. | Para acceder los baños hay que pasar por todo el espacio publico (inclusive la cocina) y en el casa del baño femenino hasta subir un piso. ||| Pésima actitud de los anfitriones: Te tratan como si fueses un intruso en su hogar en realidad parece que ellos habitan ahí o es su casa por eso se les hace incomodo tener clientes y a pesar que uno paga por ese servicio de alojamiento tienen una mala recepción y convivencia.

Location OK, but very basic & don't expect quiet
Room was right next to the common area/dininng room/reception, and the door did not block any noise at all. Reception is upstairs and someone has to walk down to open the door, so you need to wait a minute, but other than that service was good. Booked this without realizing the bathroom was shared, but that's my fault. Location was decent though for visiting museums and such in the center. No aircon (and no window, just a fan), but the temperature was fine while I was there

No breakfast was offered. Wifi / internet connection was slow. The room had 2 single beds but these were not very comfortable. The air was very poor and only a fan available in the room for cooling. The hostel is on 2 floor with stairs and no elevator available. The shared bathroom, toilets are on another floor, not on the same floor as the rooms.

El hostel está estratégicamente situado para visitar todo MVD. Está lleno de gente amable y cordial. Agua caliente las 24 hs. Tiene todo lo que uno necesita.

Beautiful hostel in Ciudad Vieja
The place is absolutely beautiful. The location is by very short walking distance to the ferry terminal, tge old city (Ciudad Vieja) and Centro. The atmosphere is more like a family of young people living together. Some residents seem to be staying there for long term. However, we, as a couple, booked a room with private bathroom and the bathroom was in fact shared. But for backpackers sleeping in a dormitory, those well-maintained shared facilities shouln’t be an issue.

We believe it to be a misunderstanding. On the reservation are the bathrooms shared. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Me robaron una bufanda.
Tuve un problema con la hostel, una chica de Brasil. UN día que salía de carrera le pregunté si podía dejar en el espacio común una bufanda, me dijo "sin problema, aquí nadie se roba nada" y la bufanda (chalina) nunca apareció. El día que dejaba el hostal ella se molestó porque la desperté para preguntarle dónde estaba mi chalina, eran casi las 8am.

Ana, primeramente sentimos mucho que no has salido satisfecha de nuestro hostel. Entretanto tenemos que aclarar algunas cosas: aqui es un Hostel y los huéspedes deben ser responsables por sus pertenencias personales. La voluntaria dijo aconsejó que podrías dejar de un día al otro, lo qué paso en tu caso fue que dejasteis 2 días en el salón común, y pasado todo este tiempo no has encontrado la bufanda. Puede ser que pasó un mal entendido y alguien haya llevado por engaño, no ha como saberlo. Acusar de robo es una cosa séria, a parte sin pruebas reales. Con relación a la reacción de la empleada, ella tiene un horário de turno de trabajo a cumplir y mismo que fuera a las 8 am, no era su turno. Sentimos mucho por el transtorno y esperamos que tu próxima experiencia en Hostel sea mejor. Equipo Chic Hostel.

El hostal es lindo y cómodo, la zona de noche no hay opciones cercanas para comer o salir.. avisen si van a llegar en horarios por la noche porque no escuchan el timbre y te puedes quedar un rato esperando a que abran (y esa calle no es linda para esperar)

Great place overall, but be warned that the old city (where this hostel is located) turns into an absolute ghost town on the weekends - we arrived on a Saturday night and had to walk quite a way to find an open restaurant. If you're planning on staying over a weekend, you may want to consider another neighborhood.

Yövyimme 3 yötä Chic Boutique hostellissa. Hostelli on enemmänkin kommuuni, jossa asuu useita pitkäaikaisia vuokralaisia. Huone oli ok. Jaettu kylpyhuone oli siisti. Samoin keittiö, joka oli hyvin varusteltu. Wifi oli nopea. Sijainti on kävelymatkan päässä nähtävyyksistä.

Worst overpriced place ever! Avoid!
This place is a shame for the whole industry, and incidents like ours make people dont want to back to hostel again. We were a bit before checkin time wanted to leave our suitcases, but as i assume due to possible overbooking we were checked in to sort of the storage room, what we were not really happy. The room had no window, and apart from bed there was a one night amp without bulb (sic!), one broken bed site table and on metal locker. All this made improsion a prison cell not a room itself. The picture was fulfilled by the sewage pipe sticking out of the wall. (Although i cannot speak about all of the rooms, but the common bathroom was in similar condition as well). We were not seriosly satisfied with the room but were told that there was no possibility to for a change, neither a refound. I have the photos which i will ask hotels.com to publish. Staff is a bunch helpless youths, when asked to speak to owner they said there is no possibility to contact with (although im pretty sure they are owners). We decided to move from this ramshackle spot to nearby 3* with breakfast & bathroom for 5 euro more (the so called last minute price in chic was 35 euro). If you expect an athmosphere in exchenge of lower quality you can be dissapoited either.

Para uma noite apenas, na falta de outra opção.
Muito simples, banheiro coletivo com escadas para acesso, o que causa desconforto durante a noite, não há café da manhã, pouco espaço nas poucas geladeiras disponíveis, só um funcionário, que nem sempre está presente. Na relação custo- benefício não foi uma boa escolha para estadia de 2 dias, talvez por uma noite, não tendo opção melhor.

That is terrible experience finding the hotel, after two hours of taxi ride to hotel, we find the hotel l in the worse part of the town with home less people sleeping at the foot steps of the hotel. The hotel seemed to be vacant and no light. When we rang the door, the manager showed up with his cut off tee shirt smell like weed with his half naked girl friend. We double checked the location of the hotel and he confirmed that it is the Boutique chic hotel , at which time, the drive said" I don't feel comfortable leaving you here so he drove us to another hotel". I tried to file a complains about false advertising with Expedia, and they were not helpful either. Do Not book anything in the dump, if you want to come out of that place alive.

Gostei do hostel, quarto limpo, grande, com aquecedor, banheiros compartilhados limpos. Fica numa rua bastante deserta, porém, perto do centro. A baixa é que o ambiente não possui televisão.

Excellent service, price and location
Nice proprietor, Enrico, welcoming me and when asked to, telling all about the city, society and Uruguayan life in general. Very clean rooms. Wi-Fi, Cool roof-terrace with a view of the harbour and all the activities there, including the cruise ships. I'd stay there again, if visiting Monte Video once more. /Martin
