'This is not the property you're looking for. The staff is nice enough, but the property being open to the public, no hotel grade doors on the rooms (they were closet doors with no deadbolt), and no AC on a hot night is not acceptable. If you like camping, this is the place for you. Otherwise, you are getting what you're paying for. Given all the positive reviews, I was surprised when we checked in at how bad it was. 'The room was clean and inviting with a great balcony overlooking the bay. The downstairs restaurant and bar were great! The poll could use an update and was hard to find. The coffee in the bar area in the morning was wonderful! The location was perfect for sightseeing in and around Hilo. We also enjoyed the trees on Banyon Drive.'

'It’s definitely the nicest place to stay in Hilo. Great location & beautiful property. Breakfast was good with options. Staff is fabulous. This is absolutely just chance, nothing the hotel could do. A soccer team showed up our last night. The kid’s & parents were loud, obnoxious & trashed the place, I felt sorry for the entire staff & groundskeeper cleaning up after the rude group.'

'The start of the stay started off well with Sarge, the property manager, and all, with him cooking for us and welcoming us in. The rules were very strict in having no outter footwear inside the house. The property was nice with a stray cat, named White Knight, being around the property to be there during your stay. 'This was amazing! Great staff, great location AND there's even a swimming hole (5 min walk, if that) with a waterfall! I've never stayed in a shared house before, but this one has spoiled me! It's close enough to be able to drive to all the good tourist spots. Oh, and hopefully you're there for the "big" farmers market on Saturdays. If I get back to the Big Island I'll be coming back here! Thank you for the great time!'
