De Byrnes House - Classic Garden District Griekse Revival huis

Classic Garden District Griekse Revival huis gebouwd in 1898, The Byrnes House heeft alle klassieke architectonische details - geribbeld Dorische zuilen in een dubbele galerij, Grape blad en boog fries, kleine fronton, triglief entablature met grote tandheelkundige gieten. Binnen zijn 13 ft plafonds, grote ramen, gips medaillons, reuze pocket deuren, enz .; gerenoveerd en bijgewerkt met alle moderne gemakken.

In aanvulling op de grote architectuur, de locatie kan gewoon niet kloppen. Het Utne Reader vermeld in de Lower Garden District # 1 op hun lijst van de hipste wijken in de Verenigde Staten. Omgeven door restaurants, bars, antiekwinkels en unieke winkels, vindt u dat dit een zeer interessante buurt. PLUS, een blok aan het Saint Charles Ave tram, en je bent een korte rit naar het Warehouse District, French Quarter, Canal Street, de River Walk, Mid-City, City Park, musea, universiteiten, Audubon Park - alles geweldig over New Orleans. Oh ja, had ik al gezegd dat de Mardi Gras parades voorbij een blok afstand op St. Charles Ave.?

Dit historische gebouw was de thuisbasis van 3 generaties van talentvolle mannen van de familie Byrnes. Col. William H. Byrnes werd geboren in Ierland in het jaar 1845. Hij kwam met zijn ouders naar Amerika toen een jongen, en uiteindelijk steeg op naar het voorzitterschap van de Hibernia Fire Insurance Co. Vijf opeenvolgende presidenten van de staat Louisiana gaf hem de rang van kolonel op hun militaire staven. William H. Byrnes, Jr., was een Louisiana Senator die wetgeving tot oprichting van Loyola University of New Orleans geïntroduceerd. William H. Byrnes, III, was de Juryvoorzitter van de Louisiana 4e Circuit Court of Appeal.

This is a great spot to enjoy New Orleans! The house has plenty of space, and it has a great classic New Orleans feel. You really get to feel like you are staying in New Orleans with this location with the big porch, and lovely furnishings. It is also just a block away from the trolley that can take you right to the French Quarter, and is also just a quick ride away from Magazine St or Frenchmen St. I would definitely recommend it!

We all agree we'd stay again

We all loved the house, the location and how easy it was to get to the places we wanted to go. From the moment we arrived it was everything we expected and so much more. Great places to eat and drink with in walking distances and do close to street car stop. The house had everything we needed and the beds were so comfortable. We had a few nights of thunder and lightening and we spent a lot of time on the front porch as a group enjoying the storm since where we're from we don't see storms like this. We'd definitely stay Shaun the next time we're in NOLA. On a side note as the only gluten free person in our group having Tacos and Beer restaurant right down the road saved me a few times when I wasn't able to eat at the places my group wanted to eat at. 5/5 for location, friendly service and great food.

Fabulous house in LGD

Six older women loved staying in this beautiful house. Perfect location, just a short block to St Charles Ave. It was stocked with everything we needed. The bedding was heavenly, beds super comfortable and furnishings.were lovely.

Stayed here on a recent trip with our kiddos and some family friends. There was plenty of space for all of us and the location could not have been more perfect. Easy access to street car and to Magazine Street. Strongly recommend this listing.

Wedding Weekend

This beautiful 1800’s home was perfect for our needs. The house was just a 1/2 a mile from our venue, which was very convenient! The location is also just one block off of St Charles in the Garden District, which is a highly sought after location. The trolley runs on St Charles which takes you to downtown, French Quarter, City Park and many other locations. It is also convenient to Magazine Street which has great shopping and restaurants. We loved the house because there are 4 large bedrooms and 5 king size beds, which were very comfortable, and 3 full bathrooms. There is plenty of room to sit with family and friends with a large living room and parlor. There is also a large kitchen and dining room, although we did not cook while there. There are too many great restaurants to eat at in New Orleans. We had no trouble parking on the street and there is off street parking at the back of the house which we never needed. David, the host was great!! Always quickly responding to any questions and offering to supply whatever we needed for our little one. David was gracious and allowed us to check in early, which was greatly appreciated! We enjoyed our stay very much and we would rent again!

70th Birthday Celebration

The existence of this 1800’s home is an experiential and historical gift. It’s the real thing with ceilings of at least 18 feet, large rooms, antique architectural fixtures and the southern charm that only a house of this era could have.We were so pleased with its authenticity and the manner in which this provided a true New Orleans experience. We also appreciated the flexibility on check in day as 4 individuals drove but 5 others flew in throughout the day. Thank you!

I came to Nawlins' to celebrate my 70th. Everything about the trip was great, including the Byrnes house. The location is convenient, the neighborhood seems safe, and the house is well equiped and spacious with a rich history. I'd gladly return.

Perfect New Orleans experience

Beautiful old home that the pictures in the listing just doesn’t do justice to being there live. Home is much bigger in real life. Comfortable with plenty of room. But best of all was walking one block to the St Charles streetcar that will take you quickly downtown or if you walk across St Charles to the Pontchartrain hotel and go to the Hot Tin bar on the 14th floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of downtown while sipping on your favorite drink.

Family Thanksgiving in New Orleans

This was the first time visiting for 6 out of 7 of us, ranging in age from 21-57. We are from San Francisco, so we loved the architecture, and really appreciated the gorgeous details in the house. It was a great location for us, as we walked, tram’d, or Uber’d all over the city. We loved the house— Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, and an amazing location.

Beautiful home in great location

This is more of a 4.75 place. The home is beautiful with chandeliers and high ceilings. It’s located easy walking distance to the St Charles street car. Perfect for getting around the city. The only issues are with a beautiful older house come a few “old house” problems. Nothing significant though. And the top floor is a little difficult to get to if you have any mobility problems. But I wouldn’t let that stop you from staying in this great house. Definitely recommend!!

Beautiful historic home in a great location. Big well-stocked kitchen and comfortable gathering spaces. As other reviewers noted, there is exposed ceiling in one of the bedrooms, and the house could use some instructions/ labels for the alarm, TV, even some of the lights. AC worked great, and gated parking was a plus.

the greek revival is a gem. spent 3 nights in the house with six of my friends. all loved it. Maintaining such an old house with modern amenities is no joke and must not be cheap either. Hats off to the owner. House has abundance of everything you need. towels, spices, tea, coffee, pillows etc etc

Best of Both Worlds

The Byrnes House was the perfect stay for our family in New Orleans. The house is located in the Garden District full of beautiful homes and great restaurants. It was fun to explore this area and stay in a clean quiet area for our family. Then when we were ready to hit the busy French Quarter, it was less than a 10 minute drive or a quick hop on the trolley to be in the middle of it all. The home was well furnished and so spacious as well as generous with its supply of sundry items. Dave the manager was a wonderful host. He had the home ready which included a baby crib and baby gates for the stairs. We have stayed in many towns in many homes and this home is one of our new favorites!

Family Adventure Tour

The Byrnes House was the perfect accommodation for our family of eight in the Lower Garden district. Plenty of room, modern, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. One block from the St Charles streetcar, which took us right down to the French Quarte Walked all over the area - enjoyed heritage homes, great restaurants. Very safe. Some traffic at peak times, but otherwise very quiet.
