'All the details of the renovation of this old hotel (oldest hotel in British Columbia) have resulted in a charming, pleasant and interesting place to stay. Our bedroom was spacious and the bathroom was charming. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. '

'This hotel is in the midst of a major construction upgrade. We had one of the newly upgraded rooms which was very nice. The whole property, including the lobby, is essentially a “construction yard”. All be it off to one side, there was a huge pile of boxes of construction materials in the lobby. “The breakfast” was virtually non-exsistent - consisting of no more than two or three choices of cereals and a tub of apples and coffee. We had no advanced warning that the hotel would be in is state. We...

'This place is worth the money, but it's a 2*, so you can't expect much. You have 10 min to let them know if anything is wrong. I found out the aircon didn't work, but we were headed to an event, so didn't report it. I'm sure they would have found me another room, but we didn't feel like repacking and we were only there for one night. My suggestion. Is to che m the aircon right away if it's hot out. The staff was very accommodating.'

'The sink full dishes. The smell was old musty. No coffee The bed mattresse was hard pillow even harder. People doing drugs in next room up all night. Would not recommend this place at all. Should've slept in a park.'

'Air Conditioning worked awesome, hotels not fancy but the price point was ok. No coffee on site or in your room. No filtered water to drink, no food on site. Just a basic room that was just fine. Pillows sucked but the bed was good.'

'We enjoyed our stay. Our hosts warmly welcomed us and served a delicious breakfast to us each morning ($10 Canadian each). They also suggested several good local restaurants for dinner. If we visit Surrey again, we’ll definitely stay at Sunny Island again.'
