Het historische herenhuis ligt op slechts enkele minuten van Niagara Falls, wijnland, golf en goede restaurants. Deze charmante en elegante Griekse revival beschikt over 6 slaapkamers, baden en ruime grote kamers met uitzicht op de spectaculaire Niagara-kloof.

Het historische herenhuis ligt in het charmante en historische dorp Lewiston, op slechts 9,6 km van de iconische Niagara-watervallen. The Mansion is een volledig gerestaureerde Griekse Revival Mansion gelegen op twee hectare de top van een heuvel, met uitzicht op de prachtige wateren van de kloof en Canada daarbuiten. Gebouwd in 1815, dit volledig gerestaureerde Griekse herenhuis van 6000 m² heeft 5 slaapkamers, 3 badkamers, 7 open haarden en heeft alle originele architectonische kenmerken zoals originele vloerplanken, kroonlijsten en buitengewone vrijdragende trap en bruidspad. Gasten genieten van zowel Oost- als West-salons, eetkamer en gastronomische keuken. Gast retraites omvatten kingsize bed retraite met ensuite badkamer en queen kamers met originele vloerplanken meer dan 22 centimeter breed.

Het herenhuis en het prachtige dorp Lewiston in New England staan al tweehonderd jaar in het centrum van de Amerikaanse geschiedenis. Oorspronkelijk gebouwd in 1807 werd het door de Britten verbrand tijdens de oorlog van 1812. Volledig herbouwd na de oorlog, heeft het vele beroemde bezoekers ontvangen, waaronder de markies de LaFayette, John Jacob Aster en de beroemde Amerikaanse auteur James Finamore Cooper. Dit rustige en charmante dorp was de oude handelsroutes van de machtige Portage, het middelpunt van het rijk. Lewiston was ook de laatste halte op de ondergrondse spoorweg. Wandel over het 200 jaar oude Bridal Path naar het mooie en historische dorp Lewiston met zijn unieke winkels en geweldige selectie goede en romantische restaurants. The Mansion ligt op slechts vijf minuten lopen van het Performing Arts Center in Lewiston. ArtPark biedt wekelijkse concerten met hedendaagse kunstenaars in het amfitheater en speelt op het hoofdpodium. Lewiston is ook het centrum van een levendig festivalseizoen, waaronder het Historic Jazz Festival, Arts Festival en Peach Festival. In slechts een paar minuten rijden bent u in het hart van de beroemde wijnregio van Niagara met meer dan 18 boetiekwijngaarden. Rijd door dit prachtig ongerepte landschap om te genieten van de beste wijn en verse producten van de regio. Wandelen en fietsen over de kloof is ook een geweldige manier om het adembenemende uitzicht op de kloof te ervaren. Deze regio heeft het allemaal en is ook een plek om gewoon door het kleine dorp te wandelen, uit te rusten en een boek te lezen op de gracieuze met kolommen omzoomde veranda, kijkend naar het water van de Niagara-kloof die eindeloos verder beweegt.
Vanaf het terrein van het landhuis zie je duidelijk het Queenston Heights Monument over de kloof aan de Canadese kant van de grens.
Houd er rekening mee dat er een extra aparte gastensuite is voor 2 personen. De Carriage-suite bevindt zich in de bijgevoegde noordvleugel van de oorspronkelijke structuur. Er zijn GEEN gemeenschappelijke ingangen of gedeelde binnenruimte tussen het Landhuis en de Suite. Suite-gasten kunnen echter gebruik maken van het buitenterrein van 2 hectare. Herenhuisgasten gebruiken het Oost-terras (4000 m²) en de Suite-gasten worden aangemoedigd om het West-terras (2000 m²) te gebruiken.

Elegant ,historical getaway

This estate sits up on a hill in downtown Lewiston, so you're isolated from the hustle-bustle of the town. We were there during a full-blown arts festival but we never heard a thing. Very tranquil and loads of space both inside and outside.

Great location ...beautiful home

We had a family of 10 with 2 children. Perfect location as within walking distance to numerous shops, restaurants and close drive to Niagara Falls. Diane was a gem. She kept in constance contact to insure our stay was perfect. The Mansion layout is perfect for large families. Great livingroom areas to either join or have some quiet time to yourself. Highly recommended.

The Mansion is a unique location in a beautiful little town - located walking distance to anything including the Niagara River. Lots of room and character - much more memorable than staying at a hotel. Will be a pleasant memory for years to come.

An amazing place to stay!

The historical ambiance of the Mansion made this one of my most incredible VRBO experiences. Eight of us came to Lewiston to play in a golf tournament and the property was perfect for us. We had lots of room to spread out, plenty of bedrooms, had a big kitchen to cook our meals in and comfy chairs to sit outside at night and rest from our day. The gardens were so pretty and it was nice to sit under the canopy of trees. The communication from the host was spot on, she answered all my queries and even called and texted to make sure we were okay. The message that she sent us with the historical information about the house made our stay that much more special. Thanks so much for sending us helpful information about the area and things to do!

Though this seams to be a 200 Year old property and big space, The Maintenance was very poor. Bad odor in the toilet Blankets are not washed Wooden floors are giving sound like its going to fall There was hole in the second floor bathroom, where if water is leaked, it was wetting the kitchen:(. So you cannot use the bathroom above the Kitchen when you are cooking Please try for some other option for better price

Amazing!

The Barton Mansion is absolutely incredible- the history of this beautiful building, location in the heart of Lewiston, and spectacular architecture …not to mention comfortable beds, tons of space and sheer size! Diane was wonderful to connect with and very responsive. I look forward to renting the mansion again and would absolutely recommend this stunning home.

We had a wonderful time in Lewiston and enjoyed the Barton house!

The property was very clean and easy to find. The location is fantastic easy walking distance to the water or downtown, in addition to a playground for the kids directly on the other side of the property fence! The house offered enough space for our family, my parents as well as my brother and his family. There was only one problem, we wanted to use the piano. My husband plays and we were excited to see it in the pictures, however it was locked and unaccessible. We were able to entertain ourselves regardless but it was one of the reasons I booked the house. All in all, it turned out to be a perfect weekend. Sunshine each day and a trip to the falls and then Lewiston's Art Festival! Wonderful quiet town with plenty of dining and entertainment. I would recommend to anyone.

Wonderful stay

This historical house was a beautiful place to spend time. The house was spacious with plenty of large windows that let light in. The kitchen was well equipped. The Niagara River could be seen from the kitchen and the grounds were also beautiful. Lewiston is a wonderful village. The host was responsive and friendly. I would definitely recommend this property.

The pictures doesn’t do justice. It’s Beautiful historic mansion. The kitchen is awesome! Huge bedrooms and bathrooms. Enough space for my 5 children. The outside doesn’t need anything done to it like another review stated. Historical historical house and the foliage matches the atmosphere of the entire town. I will be staying again in the near future!

Beautiful large open home and property, but could use some cosmetic repairs, beautiful staircase. House has view of the river but obscured by overgrowth. Bathroom arrangement is a bit awkward if using all 5 bedrooms. Easily accommodates a large crowd.

1. House address is not clearly marked, we had to look in the mailbox to be sure we were at the right place 2. There wasn't a key or code left per the check in instructions sent by email to us 3 no contact information for property owner or manager....tenants next door gave us the contact number they had after they entered their room. No answer and voicemail was not set up for the number they gave us 4 after 3 attempts and 40+ minutes Vrbo finally gave us the code to enter the house Very stressful as we were 300 miles from home and it was very cold 5 The exterior of the house looked dirty and weathered, the inside was ok but definitely not Clean. The stove either hadn't been cleaned after last tenants or it is horribly stained to look filthy 7 The website stated there would be a charge for any damage we may do, there was so much damage throughout the house paint on the walls nicks in the woodwork, locks that didn't work and lights that flickered, cracked windows that were taped, broken bar chair, roof tarped off, spiral staircase rail was rickety and unsafe. it was really a disappointment we paid A LOT of money we sure expected better 👎👎👎 The website boasted of 3 fireplaces which is true however none were usable. Signed Not happy tenants

Beautiful Historic Home!

We had the most wonderful time staying at this historic 1800s home which has been beautifully renovated. The pictures on the website didn’t do it justice; inside was a lovely mix of original features and modern convenience. After being stuck in our home for months due to the COVID crisis, we were looking for a change of scenery and some space to spread out in, and this home didn’t disappoint. The patio is large and has a wonderful fire pit to sit at in the evenings. We love history, and this home has details pertaining to its role in the War of 1812. It is within walking distance to many restaurants. We loved the 200 year old fireplace, the portraits throughout the house, the wood plank floors, and the old servants bells. Whoever does the cleaning for this house before our arrival did an impeccable job, especially for a house this size and age. One thing to be aware of - there is a separate carriage house that can be rented within the larger home. When we were in the kitchen, we could hear either other renters or property employees (not sure which) talking quite loudly. That aside, we loved our stay and would definitely love to return in the future!

We had a great weekend with friends and family. The house is conveniently located in walking distance to all shops and restaurants in town. There is a large gathering stone patio with fire pit on the property. The house is decorated beautifully. The history with the house is very interesting. Beautiful Wedding Venue at the Historic Mansion Overlooking the Niagara Gorge in Lewiston

This is a very nice historic home built over 200 years ago. This spacious home and 4,000 sf stone patio were a perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding. We had all our children and grandchildren stay at the home with us. The home is walking distance to the town of Lewiston which is very quaint. It is also very close to the Niagara River which is a very scenic area. We enjoyed our stay. We could have all our meals outside on the patio and the grounds were very large so the children could play outside. There is also a playground located next to the property.
