'We stayed five nights at Charlie’s El Nido. We had fairly high expectations, as this was one of the most expensive hotels we booked during our six month trip through Southeast Asia (around $100 per night). Unfortunately, the experience ended up being quite disappointing.
We booked a standard room and were placed on a basement floor. That wouldn’t have been a big issue, but it was quite a long walk with luggage and there is no elevator. The room itself was extremely small, with barely any space...

'We were staying in the villa with a private pool, with two adults and two grown up children. A really fantastic experience the resort is located on the beach, and has a nice restaurant with a great à la carte choice for breakfast. Friendly staff and great service made our stay complete.'

'"My daughter walked in, went straight to the window, and just stood there. I gave her about thirty seconds before I joined her. El Nido Bay, right there, limestone cliffs in the distance, boats moving across the water. Neither of us said anything for a bit.
The location is the thing. Seventy metres to the beach. Five minutes to the tour loading point. Restaurants and shops literally downstairs. After a full day on the water, walking back to your room in five minutes without needing a tuk-tuk is...

'Resort is a steep 400m up a hill to reception and a further distance uphill to some of the villas. We were lucky to stay in Studio 2. Our room was beautiful and not many steps to the restaurant or pool. Staff were very nice and accommodating and have a free shuttle into and from town. If you don’t have general fitness I recommend you contact the resort when booking accommodation.'
