This resort is literally "ok". I have no doubt that - when it was first built in the early 1990s - it would have been somewhat of a luxury experience. However, roll on over 30 years and everything's tired, old fashioned and a bit shabby. Nothing has been updated or refreshed at all.
On the plus side, the rooms are huge, the resort accommodation is set back off the main road meaning it's peaceful and quiet and there is plenty of space to walk and sit outside if you like. The pool area is quite nice although oddly placed. The beachfront restaurant was quite nice (Thai food was speedy and tasty) with lovely, attentive staff.
The hotel reception staff, by contrast, could not have been less interested in us or the other guests. We were ignored, expected to carry lots of bags up many flights of stairs to our rooms with no offer of help and there was a general air of impatience. Everything was too much trouble. A shame given they are front of house.
Breakfast was a shambles. Poor quality food which had run out by the time we got there at 9am on our first morning (it stopped at 10.30am) with not even any non meat options left for my omelette. Strained staff running round trying to refil and seat people in the woefully under capacity dining area.
This could be a nice alternative to the big corporate hotels in the area, but the environment needs a full upgrade and some new staff (and more of them!)
