'I have nothing to compare it with as this is my first experience of youth hostels in 40 years. I was impressed. I loved the open area, bar and restaurant. The dormitory was excellent. Beds were well spaced, ample plug sockets, mattress & pillows excellent. Clean sheets and super mattress. The bed was as good as any 5 star hotel. Honestly. The shower was clean but a little small. The facilities in the kitchen were good but some of the pans had loose handles. The staff clearly clean but somehow...

'Did exactly what it needed to do. Free parking for the van within walking distance. Lovely food and great staff.'

'We stayed 2 nights as a group of 6 in the bunk barn. The room was full of mould. The bunk barn doenst peovide enough space for 6 people and very little space to store belongings. 'Great value for the money. Bunk Bed was too firm.'

'We enjoyed that we could use all facilities for free. The hostel is right at the centre of Kirkby Stephen. We popped in and out several times. The landlady very friendly, helped us find transport to our next destination. '
