Thimblewynd vakantieverhuur is beschreven als een van de "beste in Schotland met bubbelbad" (The Scotsman Newspaper).

Thimblewynd, geboren in 1860, is een cottage uit de C-lijst in het historische dorp Dunning, Perthshire. Thimblewynd is uitgegroeid tot een luxe romantische schuilplaats met veel voordelen.

Afgelegen Hot tub-ervaring? Ja. Log Burner? Ja. Gastropub op de hoek? Ja. Dorpswinkel onderaan de straat? Ja dat ook.

We zijn geboeid om Thimblewynd in ons leven te hebben en zijn verheugd om het met u te delen.

Het is een plek die gewoon goed aanvoelt en er is een enorme investering gedaan om ervoor te zorgen dat het alles heeft wat een paar nodig heeft om samen van een speciale tijd te genieten (bubbelbad, open haard, smart tv, wifi, platenspeler, bordspellen ...)

Beoordelingen tonen aan dat gasten genieten van een echt gevoel van afzondering en er even helemaal tussenuit zijn, maar ook genieten van alle voorzieningen van onze dorpslocatie. De plaatselijke winkel is ongelooflijk goed gevuld en perfect gelegen als u bent vergeten een alledaags (of romantisch) essentiële mee te nemen.

Wat bijzonder uniek is, is onze beschutte ommuurde tuin. In de zon kunt u genieten van de hangmat en bbq. In Schotland weten we allemaal dat je het weer niet kunt garanderen, dus hebben we overdekte gebieden geïnstalleerd om je te laten genieten van de ruimte, wat er ook gebeurt. De hot tub blijft onbedekt zodat u naar elkaar kunt kijken. Het is best bijzonder.

Binnen blijft het over luxe en samenzijn. De keuken is volledig uitgerust. De woonruimte is gezellig en vol dingen te doen. Wifi (uiteraard), bordspellen, boeken, een vinyl platenspeler met LP's (of zelf meenemen) en Smart TV (eenvoudig te linken naar je netflix of Amazon Prime-account). De houtkachel is altijd een hit. Boven vindt u de grote slaapkamer, met een kingsize koperen bed, ramen met luiken en een prachtig uitzicht. De privébadkamer heeft een stortdouche, handdoeken, badjassen en biologische badproducten.

We really enjoyed our stay at Thimblewynd from Aug 09 - 24 and would recommend cottage to others. Cottage was ideally suited for two of us. Loved the character of the house combined with the modern amenities i.e. updated upstairs bathroom. We loved the location in Dunning with a short walk to local Nisa store that had a great selection of items, and the lovely Kirkstyle pub just down the road. Can recommend too the cafe at Broadslap just as you come into Dunning. We found the cottage to be comfortable and street parking wasn't a problem. We liked having access to enclosed back garden.We found laundry facilities in Perth. Dunning location allowed us easy access to the motorway for our touring around Perthshire. Maggie was easy to communicate with and readily offered help for anything we may have needed. This cottage was a great find for us!

It is a fabulous location, easy to get around. The owner has initially spent money on the property but it’s starting to look tired. Internet is hit & miss, hopefully this is fixed for the next people staying. Backup tv via the aerial is poor - sometimes it has over 100 freeview channels, then it has zero. Not there to watch TV but a bit of news each day is nice. Hot tub is fab but it needs repairing as the inside coating is partly missing. A small washer drier would be a good addition if you need to clean any clothes or even a washing line in the garden so you can hand wash items, then allow it them dry. A blind or curtain at the top of the stairs would be a good, as the sun in the morning goes straight into the bedroom, because of the glass panelled door. The cooker needs a good clean and the door appears to be defective. It doesn’t stay open so you need to hold it down whwn putting in or taking out items . There are no instructions on how to use any of the electrical products at all in the property. The only instructions available are for using the hot tub. The added extras of the straighteners and curling tongs are nice, but the towels are tiny and you’ll need a towel for the hot tub. Communication with the owner was ok but messaged us on day of arrival to suggest marsh mallows for the hot tub, bit short notice! We did have a lovely stay but just feel the place needs a little TLC to bring it back to it’s best.

Perfect Festive Getaway

Working over Christmas we booked this break to get away from all the madness. Just us and the dog. Thimblewynd was just perfect and we loved it. Peaceful and comfy throughout we chilled out in front of thr log burner or in the hot tub, the tv wasn't on once! We eat at the Kirkstyle Inn which was lovely but made ourselves breakfast and snacks in the well equipped kitchen. There was not a single thing we could fault and we loved every minute. Thanks to Maggie for hosting us.

Christmas in Dunning

Such a peaceful and lovely break, loved the wood burning stove, the shower was delightful, despite not such good weather we managed to enjoy the lovely secluded garden, even if we nearly turned ourselves into soup in the Dutch tub, think we were a bit enthusiastic with the fire!We had everything we wanted, loved the selection of games and books and only wished we’d booked for longer!

Disapointed

I want to firstly say that this property was as advertised, in a nice village and really pleasant to stay in and did have a hot tub (although it was old and in need of updating, a part of the filter was broken and kept floating about the tub for the 2hrs we spent in it). What let it down for us was that the hot tub stopped working on the first night of our 2 day stay. We had specifically booked Thimblewynd because it advertised a "secluded hot tub" so to have it break on the first night and have no hot tub for the next couple of days was really disappointing. Whilst these things happen, it appeared that the tub was at risk of breaking down after speaking with a source close to the host who came to check it for us on the second day. The host did not contact us after this to acknowledge the tub being broken and almost a week later have still had no contact from her even after going through the site and then directly messaging her. We both came home feeling really deflated and upset after spending around £500 for a break that we ultimately ended up not receiving. I would not recommend Thimblewynd due to the lack of communication from the host after a massive issue which abruptly ended our "secluded hot tub" break. A partial refund would be the correct thing to do here but again, the host has decided to ignore this situation.

Everything you need on your doorstep (pub + shop). Hot tub is wonderful. Cottage although modernised still retained it's aged and quaint feel. Great relaxing stay

Fantastic getaway

Thimblewynd is everything you need for that time away to unwind. The village is friendly, shop and pub just a short walk (2 mins). The garden is full secured, which was fantastic as we have 4 Dachshunds that can find the escape route anywhere. Now the hot tub ....... well what can I say, this certainly made the stay well worth the four hours drive.

Lovely cottage

Lovely charming cottage in good location, with country pub a few steps away and great beer garden. People in the area very welcoming. Cottage was very clean and check in straightforward and helpful. Lovely big bedroom and great en-suite. Garden was secure as advertised which was great for our dog but if I am being picky the garden was a bit tired looking which impacted on the time we wanted to spend in the garden. Hot tub in the garden was fab though.

Relaxing stay

A wonderful week in Dunning. Thimblewynd is a cosy cottage ideal and exactly what we were looking for. The cottage had everything we needed. Dunning is a beautiful location and ideal for long walks with the dog. Great pub at the end of thstreet and a jandy well stocked show. People very friendly and the host attended to any queries we had promptly. The garden and hot tub area could do with a.little TLC as it needs a little work which would improve the lovely private garden.

Amazing wee cottage

When booking this as a surprise trip for my and my girlfriends anniversary and saw it was reviewed as the best in Scotland and it definitely lived up to that name. We loved everything from the monopoly to the garden and the hot tub! What a great trip we had!

Lovely cosy wee cottage

Absolutely loved our few days away here! It was so nice to have so much needed time away and this cosy cottage was perfect! We really enjoyed the hot tub and garden and the record player and loved that we could sign in on the TV to our netflix! Bed super comfy and area fab!
