We stayed 3 nights at a cost of $797. Generally both the outside and inside of the house seemed impressive. The hosts were friendly.
Unfortunately we were quite disappointed in our stay. There appeared to be no heat on in the entire house. We arrived late, after a warm day. That night and the next 36 hours was quite cold. While an electric room heater was available in our room (a strange way to heat), the hallways and shared bathroom on the second floor were very cold!
While not as important, the impressive looking features inside upon closer inspection, there were many places when plaster or paint were peeling. Some looked like water leak damage.
Also, the house had no other guests on our floor (one arrived the last night). We made the mistake of accidentally booking a room that shared a bathroom. Quite a shock when you’re not expecting that, but when there’s no heat on cold nights and days, it becomes unacceptable. We didn’t asked to be moved but should have. Paying $266 a night in an empty unheated house should have come with an offer to change.
We have stayed in numerous B&Bs over the years and this was the worst yet. Honestly, I feel ashamed of myself for not speaking up after the first night. In the end, $220 per night ballooned to $266 with all of the taxes and fees, which is what really pushed the already bad experience into this honest and accurate review.
