'We just spent three nights at Hotel La Colina in Gijon, Spain. I have to say it’s been the highlight of our European trip. The location is secluded outside of town, but you can get into town in 10 minutes. We ate breakfast in the cafeteria every morning and the food and service were wonderful. The rooms were great, the views are fantastic, along with the hiking paths and best of all the staff were some of the friendliest people we’ve met on our trip. Highly recommended, and we will be back.'

'Clean, friendly staff. Weird idea to have a windows in the bathroom, with only a see-through curtain. Unconformable with a family of 3 (asked for a sheet, got it no problem, hang it on the curtain, that helped). 20 euro for a dog per night is steep, but you get a bowl, a snack and there's a doggy play area, so, ok. No coffee in the room is embarrassing for this price class. The mini fridge didn't really work. '

'Good overall, but basic issues need attention The hotel architecture is stunning and the rooms are spacious and clean. Staff is generally polite and helpful. Breakfast was varied and enjoyable, though it can get crowded. Location-wise, it’s a 15–20 min walk to the old town, so not super central but manageable. That said, service consistency was disappointing. I had to wait five days for a linen change, despite using the hotel’s “coaster on the pillow” method. It finally worked on day six — for...
