Why?
Watermarks on the doors and walls indicated recent water damage in the apartment upon our check in.
Black mold was growing on the outside panel of the refrigerator. We have photo documentation.
Someone used plywood under the dishwasher and oven where the water damage occurred.
As a result, the dishwasher and oven were not operating for the six days we stayed.
There is no generator, and the power went out for about 20 hours. The food in the refrigerator and freezer spoiled after we spent $300 at the store.
To make cell calls, we had to climb stairs to the house's roof.
No Wifi on the day of our arrival. A technician spent hours on our first night establishing a connection.
Wifi operated only in the living room. There was no Wifi in either of the bedrooms.
We had service people in our apartment every day for the five nights/six days of our stay.
We developed coughs, and so did our two small dogs.
We have photo documentation of the mold, plywood, etc.
We deemed our health most essential and could not stay for one month.
We spent precious time and long distance call fees in many calls to VRBO. There was no resolution.
We lost our money on this property but learned important lessons.
Additionally, this property is 40 minutes from the airport and the nearest 'grocery store.'
The property is very isolated, and there are not many dining options, which we needed when the power went out.
