Noisy place
It looked like a really nice co-working space on the photos. But it turned out that it was really a hostel / restaurant in one. The outdoor bar stayed open until midnight and guests lingered around long after that. Not ideal when the majority of the rooms are right around that area. Lots of noise until late!

Een mooie locatie midden in het centrum. Schoon ruim gezellige zitjes en de mensen van Selina zijn echt top mensen. Vriendelijk en een zeer hoog gevoel serves!

Gezellige accommodatie, kamers zijn rond een terras gesitueerd. Erg relaxte sfeer, veelal gericht op de wat jonge reiziger. Maar als een 40 voelde ik me er ook op mijn gemak. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Enige minpunt is misschien het ontbijt omdat er slechts keuze is uit 2 gerechten.

This is a hostel. Did not know before booking this place. Expedia should specify that this is a HOSTEL. I would have never booked this if I knew it was a hostel. The bed was broken and super loud every time I moved. Heater did not work and it was so loud as if the windows were open. No insulation at all. And the bathroom was dirty. Bed was dirty as if they did not change the bedsheets. Had to ask for extra flat sheets to put on top. Room was cute and spacious, but wish it was cleaner and the heater worked and there was some way to make the room less noisy. Great location though.

Ich hab 3 Nächte in diesem Hostel verbracht und muss sagen, dass ich positiv überrascht bin. Die Betten waren bequem und die Vorhänge bieten Privatsphäre! Des Weiteren hatte ich inkl. Frühstück gebucht, hierbei konnte man von verschieden Gerichten aussuchen und dies wurde einem frisch zubereitet. Individuelle Zubereitung, wenn man beispielsweise kein Schwein ist, ist auch möglich! Nicht so positiv war einmal, dass es in der Nacht im Raum sehr warm und stickig wird. Die Zimmer sind deutlich kleiner als auf den Bildern! Zusätzlich sollte man ein separates Schloss mitnehmen, um seine Gegenstände abzuschließen. Ich hatte keins dabei, hatte zwar keine Probleme, aber würde eins dennoch empfehlen! Wenn man die Dusche benutzt würde ich aus hygienischen Gründen Flipflops oder Ähnliches empfehlen da die Dusche nicht jeden Tag gereinigt wird.

Overall this place was amazing—location, staff friendliness, great garden bar out back, etc. The only issue was cleanliness—the shelves in my bunk were dirty with some sticky liquid and the bathroom felt kinda gross all the time. Other than that, I’d stay here again and again.

Es buen sitio lo recomiendo está en una buena ubicación cerca de estaciones de metro, cerca de restaurantes y buen ambiente. La habitación estaba bastante bien con enchufe en la cama y también con taquillas.

I booked Selina for my stay in Portugal because I was so impressed with the Panamá locations. But Porto was just meh. Pros: location was great and walkable. Lots of great restaurants nearby. Laundromat nearby. Nice to have a cafe/bar right in Selina. The common areas look hip and trendy. Room had lots of storage. Staff were fine. Nothing was dirty. Cons: We booked a “large double” and paid $100 more just to find out it’s the same thing as a standard double, so don’t waste your money “upgrading”. If there was a difference, it certainly wasn’t noticeable and staff told us they didn’t have a “large double” other than suites. The cleaning staff don’t come unless you put out your sign, but two of our five days they didn’t come anyway, so we had to request it from front desk staff the third day. The room has a wall that’s just a window which looks nice in pictures but really has no use in practice since you’ll always want it closed for privacy. Despite staying in January and having barely any other guests around, there must be a nightclub nearby because it was still very loud at night. Can’t imagine how loud it would’ve been if there was nice enough weather for the bar on the Selina patio to be operating. Worst part was that there was no hot water for our last two days which made showers painful. Price was similar to hotels- I will probably just stay at a hotel next time.

Hotel was good and easy to access to many places. I felt it was difficult to check in. When I tryed to check in by the app before 72 hours, but it did not work. We had to put in the 4 number access code in 5 min, but we got the email including the access code after 5 min and we could not enter the number and the apprication could not find our reservation. When we checked in at the hotel, nobody was at the reception desk and we have to wait over 30 mins.

Walkable as long your healthy. Is a lot of up and down the road. Just like San Francisco. Is not good for people’s got condition. This hostel is good for young generation. I can’t claim upper bed. I can’t get up easy on lower. Too close to the floor.

Disappointing
Overall a disappointing experience and private rooms are expensive for what they are. I'll start with the positive - the hotel has nice deco, room cleaning was good, and is close to a lot of cafes, restaurants and bars. Stayed in Selina Porto for 4 nights. I booked a private room given I would be working remotely for 2 of those days. These are the items that made the stay unpleasant: 1. There was a strong and pungent smell coming from the drains in the bathroom - was a little gross to sit there in that smell. 2. The French doors that opened to the shared terrace space didn't close properly at the bottom. There was an actual gap between the door and the frame and no amount of pushing would close it. Spoke to the people in the room next door who had the same issue. It made you feel uneasy given there was no safe for valuables (e.g. work laptop) and also let a lot of noise from the streets in at night. It's in a busy bar and restaurant area so a lot of noise at night. 3. The a/c wasn't strong enough to cool the room. I literally spent both days sweating while working. 4. The staff were rude and unfriendly in all interactions. Wouldn't stay again and wouldn't recommend. The price does not align to the offering and service.

Recommended to visit
I like the place and its friendly environment. It is very close to all the best attractions in Porto and walking around is very easy and safe. Employees are respectful, friendly and very attentive. The garden is great for friends to mingle and chat.
