The resort was great for the price most staff was friendly, not so many things to do for my teen grand daughter, but she had fun. food was good, and access to food was good. very clean , wood definately come again.

I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a quiet place to stay with your family just wish the show would be more about our college culture instead of everything Americanized. Other than that, it’s an amazing place.

When we arrived, 2 hours late because of the ride from Taxilo, we were told that our room wasn't ready yet, so we had to wait. We got the room finally, and a bellhop brought our bags to the room for us. The room was pretty clean, but very old. The room we had was leaking something from the exhaust fan in the bathroom. The exhaust fan did not work, and it was directly above the toilet. Every time you sat on the toilet, water dripped on your back the whole time. Most of the employees here were quite nice, but if you didn't tip at the bars, you were ignored the next day. We were there for 7 days, and tipped quite well at the bar. The last night we were there, we had run out of smaller bills, so we didn't tip for a total of 2 drinks each. The next day, I stood at the same bar to get some coffee, and I was ignored. People were walking up beside me, and getting served, but nobody even looked at me. I was angry with myself for tipping these people anything at all. Finally, I told the guy who was filling machines that the self serve coffee machine was empty, so he yelled at another guy to get me coffee from the bar machine. That was a bad experience, and I would not tip any of them if I wound up at this place again. Otherwise, the cleaning people were great, the front desk was great and the tour guides were excellent. We took the city tour, and our guide, Lionel was awesome. Overall, the stay was good, but there really wasn't much to do. Beach, pool, or pay. I wouldn't go back here.

This is the first vacation my family and I could not wait to come home from. I did read the many negative reviews before booking and was convinced to give it a chance after joining a Facebook group for the resort. You get what you pay for. I wouldn’t recommend it for families. Pro: The resort is right on the beach, the layout is fabulous. Cons: The food is quantity over quality. Buffet was repetitive and we got food poisoning. There are flys on the food and lack of hand sanitizer before entering the dining facility. There was no reservation’s available for the steak house over our 1 week stay. -There was mold in the bathroom and the handrail in the shower was falling off. Room was overall not only outdated, but it was comparable to a motel 6. - Every day we had to request more towels because they only supplied 3 for our family of 5. - Staff (besides the initial check in) was very rude, and seemed as if any question was a burden. They were not helpful for any questions, especially the night staff who told us to ask in the morning. - Maintenance workers started working at 7:30am outside of our room, and YELLING very loudly. - The toilet paper is fragranced, which made for a very uncomfortable experience for sensitive skin. - Non designated smoking areas made it uncomfortable for children and those with underlying health conditions.

Definitely family friendly. The area, the beach is beautiful. The food was good and the amenities worked well, but the place could use an upgrade. I was not impressed with the beds nor the bed sheets. Also, I was a bit disappointed with the entertainment. It would be nice if they could have shows running a bit early so that families with small children could participate. Overall I do recommend the property and would like to return to the area.

they did not have any information when i checked in as to the schedule of activities and dining hours. room needed a few repairs. very quiet with mostly elderly couples. not a party resort. beach and sea view was great. lots of places to walk. entertainment at night was boring. people started walking out quickly. price was good and so i recommend for overall value. i would give 3.5 rating that could easily go to a 4 with small improvements

The property needs major renovation. The electrical circuits are accidents waiting to happen. The rooms are old and outdated. The food menu needs review and updated. Overall location and activities at and outside the resort made my stay one of my best vacations. I will definitely be going back but not to that resort

The resort was perfect size with many things to do right there for both children and adults. Nice variety of food at the buffet, drinks were plentiful, rooms were clean and staff was amazing. My only complaint was the bed was uncomfortable but manageable with the extra pillows they provided when requested.

The Reef was very good to snorkel. I saw the largest Peacock flonder and Porcupine fish ever! The beach is stunning.

Probably the best views and surroundings in DR. The resort was nice and the staff were nice. They only have two speciality restaurants (steakhouse and Italian). In a 7 day stay they only allow you to eat at a specialty resturant twice. They other nights you are at either of the two buffets. The buffet food was okay and comparable to other resorts in DR. Both pools on the property are about 4 ft deep so for young kids it was tough bc they couldn’t touch. Nothing really for kids to do. They had a dolfi kids club but we found it to be poorly managed and not really worth attending. No playground or splash pad for the kids. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Playabachata.

This is a low budget resort. You will get what you pay for. The rooms are very old and outdated. The beach is beautiful. However, the food is similar to dorm life. The only bright side of this resort are the staff. The management team clearly divested and is only concerned with the new sister resort the "senator". Try this place at your own risk.
