Lovely hotel and room, amazing value for money. Very clean and high quality facilities/decor. Bar/Restaurant little pricey but the standard for the area.

We booked 3 Biggy Rooms a month ago .to celebrate my 70 th Birthday These are the more expensive rooms .with River views in The Main House On check in we were given two Biggy Rooms and one room across the car park . A dog friendly room ,we have no dog ! The room smelt of dog and a ,dog barking in the room next dioor.and I am allergic to dogs ! So went to reception and requested to be moved to a Biggy room in the main building . We were told they were full no rooms available Not avery helpful member of staff on reception was rather rude and said rooms were allocated and basically insinuated it was just t . I then said could i have a discount as this was s not the room I had booked and the response was they couldn’t do that . Suddenly two rooms became available! Cozy room and a comfy room ! Again both inferior rooms . I took the comfy room as it was in the main house and not too far from my 2 sisters rooms . I feel the the reception manager should have apologised and maybe offered a discount . It is a shame as the rest of the staff we encountered were lovely My sister who paid for this night was the one who apologised She was the first to arrive and there were two different retention staff ,Eho were both friendly . However there was no mention then that the original booking could not be honoured . Will we be back .Yes as we enjo going to the Sonning Theatre performances . But on booking I will contact the hotel and make sure we will be in the rooms requested .

Thank you for your review, we've had a look at your booking and can see three biggy rooms were indeed booked, these don't however include a view of the river, only our River view rooms have these. Two of our biggy rooms do have partial river views but are not classed as river view (as this is only partial). Rest assured, you were allocated three biggy rooms as booked and your reservation. We hope you will be back, do contact our friendly team who can advise the best rooming options.

Would stay again.
Nice, clean room with excellent rain shower. Modern with quirky 50’s style accessories. Great location and good free parking. The restaurant/ bar area is very good with lovely gardens overlooking the river. Excellent checkout receptionist but our check-in lacked warmth and information.

Perfect Stay
We really enjoyed our stay at The Great House, The room was perfect and very spacious, The only gripe I have is that it would be really useful to have two shower heads, I really didn’t want to get my hair wet but it was only a rainfall shower head, It was a slight struggle to wash without getting my hair wet, That’s the only thing! Everything else was wonderful, Receptionist was really polite on the day we booked in to leaving the next day, All ready looking forward to coming back in the summer!!

The rooms were well appointed. Good parking nearby to Reception and the Coach House where the rooms were. The bar/ restaurant was lively with an interesting if limited menu.

Very nice property well located in the heart of Sonning. Room was clean and functional with a large and very comfortable king bed. The Coppa Club restaurant on-site is very good with a terrace and large garden leading down to the river. Staff are friendly and professional and helpful with cabs etc. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back

Lovely hotel with great location and atmosphere
What a fantastic location and really nice décor. Good value for money and buzzy atmosphere in the evening. We were there on the hottest night of the year and whilst provided with a room fan it was still really hot in the room - however any other time it was really comfortable with nice en suite. We will definitely be back.

Stunning location and lovely rooms. The rooms are hot unless you can tolerate the sound of the fan in the room, and could’ve done with more than 2 teabags. But have stayed often and will continue to visit The Great House, possibly one of my favourite places to stay.

My friend and I checked in late as we were delayed at the event we were attending. We still had a friendly welcome when we did finally turn up. Our room was very comfy and had everything we needed. We were greeted by more friendly staff the next day and enjoyed a good breakfast. Just a shame that we were not staying longer, as our visit was very short!

Lovely hotel but our room was much much smaller than expect. Not a complaint, it was perfectly nice, I’d just book a different style if staying again so we had more room.

Oh dear but thank you for your feedback. You were in one of our smallest room type (Cosy) and only one of these rooms has a bath which is subject to availability and on request. Due to the hot weather the beds were not made up with a duvet , but instead a top sheet is left on the bed folded ready for the guest to place on top -this keeps it cool (rather than having it already on the bed which gives it time to heat up) thus helps with keeping you cool once in bed. Apologies for the confusion. A call to our 24 hour reception and we would have happily placed the top sheet on the bed for you and replaced the coffee bags too -there should have been 4 -apologies- I will mention this to our housekeeping team .We do hope you will come stay with us again and give us the chance to impress next time.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had the apartment and we’re very pleased with the layout and decor. And a lovely bathroom! Thoughtful amenities provided including some fresh milk for tea and lots of water as it was hot. Located right at the river with a beautiful stretch of the Thames path literally on the doorstep. Dined in the coppa Club which was buzzy. Would happily return.

Stayed in double deluxe room, very clean,amazing shower and toiletries, room large had everything we needed desk, comfy chairs, lovely bed, fan, fridge with milk and water replenished each day, teas coffee biscuits and lollipops. Room has safe, ironing board and iron and hairdryer
