Hi Anna, sorry your door was missing a security latch. We are in the process of installing them. In the future, make sure to use the deadbolt lock. That usually provides necessary security. I'm not sure what can be done about the smell of cleaning products.as they are a necessity to clean the rooms. If you ever experience that problem again, please call the front desk and we will be happy to move you to another room.

Hi Anonymous ;), First, I I'm not sure if you're familiar with San Francisco, but yes there is an awful homeless problem. It's sad so many have to be out in the cold instead of a warm room somewhere. However, I don't think homeless necessarily equals "extremely unsafe". Just my opinion. We have never had anyone break into one of our rooms as there is an employee on the property 24/7. Second, I do wish you had informed us about the condition of the room or that you were scared being near the alley. We would have gladly had moved you to a room closer to the office so you could just relax. Third, I believe holding a deposit is standard policy in most hotels as I've stayed in over 200 hotels and the money is always deducted and then refunded 7-10 days later. Sorry, that wasn't explained to you upon checking in. Thanks for visiting us and have a nice day.
