'We stopped in Puntarenas on our way back from the west coast to San Juan. Unless you are curious to see all of Costa Rica, there is not much at all in this area. It's a filthy, poor area with little to offer, even though it is so close to the beach. The hotel is kind of old and tired with an unclean looking pool. Food is mediocre at best. We had a suite in the newly build tower, supposedly with a view over the marina. No view unless you stand on the balcony. We asked for a different room but got...

'A nice location by the beach. The rooms are behind a restaurant, keeping it quieter. The accommodations are older with rooms that show some wear, but that’s a minor cosmetic concern. it’s a fine place to stay!'

'Henry was a terrific host. He gave us lots of advice on restaurants and attractions nearby and he responded quickly to any questions we had. The house was nicely situated on the ocean - we sat under the veranda watching the waves roll in, the lightning strike and the ships go by. There was everything we needed in the house. It was a bit out of the way - quite far from Monteverde for example. We rented a car and would have been lost without it.We missed the sunsets because of the weather so...

'This is an outstanding property, I'm glad to say it exceeded my expectations. Paquera CR isn't the tourist mecca, IE an all inclusive. If you want to enjoy CR with a local feel and experience this is a place for you. The owners were responsive to questions and w/recommendations sheet to go. We loved CURU and the wildlife refuge, great hiking trails, great beach..'
