We stayed at the Hyatt Hampi over Christmas 2025. Traveled as a family group and had 3 rooms for 3 nights.
First the pros. Great location, grounds and decor. Wonderful chef and awesome food.
I am giving a 3 star for the following reasons:
They were staffed with trainees mostly over the busy period with a few experienced staff. Long response times and slow service, some incorrect communication. Definitely room for improvement.
1 of the 3 rooms we were assigned had a smelly toilet. Possibly something to do with the sewer plumbing outdoors. We reported it to the hotel right away, but they were unable or unwilling to do anything until the evening of the 2nd day. On the 3rd day, the guests had a nicer room. All this while charging five star rates at peak season. Disappointing experience from Hyatt.
The hotel has 4 floors and at least 3 wings but only 1 elevator. On one of the days, the elevator broke down and was out of commission for a few hours. During that time, no housekeeping or room service was possible. More importantly, one of the guests in our group with mobility issues was literally room bound. Could not access the restaurant or room service. The rest of us could and did use the stairs.
