Most of the staff were very welcoming especially reception staff in particular Igbo. The restaurant staff were not as friendly. One of the staff did not give me my change back( 25 dalassi ). Got my orders wrong once or twice. On one occasion i did not get my food that i ordered. When i went to inquire the lady that served me said that she didnt realise that i ordered. But she was very apologetic. The room that i stayed in could have been cleaned better. The soap in the dish was soft and melted. I found this off putting to use so we never used it. We just used our own to wash our hands. The wash sink could have been cleaned daily. There was dirt on the bathroom door inside and outside. The sofa in our room had stains on it. The skirting had dust on it. We had asked for an iron and had to wait about 4 days but we got it in the end. The wifi was terrible. Whenever i went to reception the staff connected wifi but when i went to my room i couldnt get it and also couldnt get it on the beach just outside the restaurant. On the whole for how much we payed I would stay there again if the cleanliness and wifi availability improved. The reception staff and security staff were very polite and welcoming.

Beachfront bar and restaurant excellent staff very friendly and attentive but made the mistake to stay in a superior room in the block they call stones very dated the block stairs and landings filthy all our stay and the noise terrible from the bar down the rd until 5am tried to move rooms but wanted over £700 stayed out but checked out a day early to get some kip

The hotel was very good, i thought it was the best I have stayed in. Your staff make it that way, they should and deserve better terms and conditions. Pay them a retainer when you close for the rainy season. Look after your staff.

Thank you for your amazing review and I am happy to inform you that we are one of the few hotel that does not close during the rainy season. We do have seasonal staff but we also have full time staff at the resort also.

Air conditioning a paid option?!? And this is not disclosed until after check in? And wifi never worked so without phone in room, no communication with front desk. Oh, and no soap at all, much less any other bathroom product. Taken to very warm villa and dropped off without any explanation of anything. AC would not come on. Had to access a remote, unsecured wifi network to WhatsApp front desk because hotel’s wifi for this villa never worked for either of us. Once connected to front desk, was informed that AC was a paid upgrade!! Never heard of such a thing and certainly a BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE!! Agreed to pay extra, so maintenance man sent who actually removed and rewired the electrical box, while I held my phone light to help him because the lights also went out. AC finally on. Did I mention NO SOAP ANYWHERE? We’ve travelled extensively and this is one of THE WORST lodging experiences ever!! NOT RECOMMENDED because AC as an option without informing a guest is absurd!! Did I mention no soap anywhere?

Hello Jerry, thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to read that you did not enjoy your stay with us. Please accept our apologies. You booked via Expedia and when booking, each of the various unit types we have, show which amenities are included, in your stay. The same information is available on our own website. Soap should have been available in your apartment and that the lights go out from time to time is part of the way of life in Gambia. The national grid has interruptions and our back up generators are switched on, so shortly after the power cut there is electricity. Same for the WiFi, the signals drop from time to time. We do hope that despite all, you managed to enjoy our lush gardens, the Atlantic Ocean view from your patio and all the wildlife in our gardens.

This was an exciting place to stay! The beach is right there. The pool was lovely and the grounds were well kept (and often had monkeys and tons of birds.) The location was perfect. The staff was wonderful and we really loved having our villa to come home to after a day of exploring. You can hire a driver right at the hotel to take you around the city or beyond.

Hello Sabrina, thank you for your feedback, we are sorry to read you found the mattress of the bed too hard. We checked our records, but could not find any report on this at the reception, we have mattress toppers for those that do not like a firm mattress. Late check out is subject to availability. You would surely not like it when upon check in to any hotel in the afternoon you were told to please wait as the departing guest was allowed a late checkout. Good to know you enjoyed our beautiful beaches, pools and gardens.

Food and restaurant service were excellent. The food is much better than a typical hotel. The room was very good, except for construction noise and refurbishment noise every morning that interfered with us sleeping in. Our major complaint is that they informed us on checkout day that they no longer accepted credit cards and it left us scrambling to find local currency at ATMs at the last second instead of enjoying our last day of vacation. Gambian Dalasis are very burdensome to carry around. You would need a suitcase and that’s if you can even find an ATM that dispenses the money. When we checked in, credit cards were accepted. One week later they are not. Management could not be bothered to help. Only gave us the obligatory “sorry, nothing we can do, have a nice day “ This left is feeling sorry for the competent wait staff and excellent chef because we will not be coming back to this resort because of their credit card policy and unhelpful management.

Hello and thank you for your review. We are delighted to hear you had an enjoyable stay and enjoyed the resort and its facilities. We are very sorry to hear the card facility was that much of an issue you don't wish to return. Unfortunately the card company halted our facility very lastminute and you were unluckily caught in the transitional period which im sure was very inconvenient. There are many ATM's and foreign exchange is also accepted in the Gambia if the Gambian currency is less convenient for you. However we are sorry this spoilt your holiday to the extent you won't be returning.

A bit disappointed
They had strict rules when it comes to visitors making it seem like a little prison.. poor customer service and the reservation manager was very rude and very un approachable. You even have to pay extra for an air conditioner when Gambia is too hot and the villa’s don’t come with TV, so be prepared to entertain yourself.

We do hope you felt comfortable and at ease at the Resort during your stay and we hope your visitors felt at home also. As our accommodation rates are so low during the summer, we do provide additional services at an extra charge which helps dramatically when AC is not always required by guests - even in the summer months. Nice hotel, amazing staff - always smiling and ever so friendly. Time we visited, there was a lot of renovation work going on so didn’t have access to one of the pools. Most villas only have 1 air conditioning unit in the main bedroom so can get extremely hot and stuffy. If booked room only package AC UNIT NOT INCLUDED IN PRICE and you’ll need to pay extra per day that you want the AC - currently £8 per unit per day extra. Also, if you want to pay by card whilst at the hotel, there is a minimum spend requirement of £100, which we were not aware of. Overall, amazing staff who make the hotel great. The kitchens in the villas are also very well equipped and rooms are clean. Hotel is by the beach as well which is great. Lovely place to stay at.

The staff are so difficult especially one of the girl she was rude to my guests .i was there for a business trip and I had to meet some of my business partners there was very difficult for me my advice to anyone who wants to stay there if you have meeting with partners don’t stay there .overol the place is nice and only no TV

Loved the hotel. Great room with everything for you to live comfortably. Very clean. Fully fitted kitchen so you didn't have to eat out. Shame I was only there for 1 night. 2 minute walk to the local bar's and restaurants. Friendly staff and helpful. Would stay again

Nice, but staff was at times intrusive
The service was great, very charming live duo band would perform in the evenings and all of the staff was friendly and helpful, though some of the staff was a bit too friendly. I wouldn’t recommend traveling here as a young single woman as a few people in the staff tended to be a bit intrusive flirt quite a bit. It actually made me uncomfortable at times. Two of the men in particular, I shall name no names, insisted on having my number and then called relentlessly trying to set up dates despite my polite decline. I expected staff to be more professional. The staff frequently referred to the resort as a 5-star hotel, which I would strongly disagree with. Cockroaches are a plenty, the bed was very uncomfortable, the AC did not work properly and the wi-if is very slow. All in all, I would recommend, but mostly for couples and families because the staff might be less intrusive. Despite sounding harsh in my review it’s good value for the money and they have a nice pool and restaurant and th villas are overall very nice.

Hello Thank you for your review. Even though we are quite concerned with some of your thoughts on the behaviour of some of our staff. Kololi Beach Resort is a private Resort for members and guests to feel secure at all times, so to hear this is quite disappointing and we are very sorry if you felt at all uncomfortable. If you could possibly contact us directly so we can discuss this further it would be much appreciated. With regards to the AC and other issues, i do hope this was addressed on site, as we do like to get any minor issues dealt with straight away such as poor AC or an uncomfortable bed. 3 days at Kololi Beach Club
I stayed at the Kololi Beach Club for 3 days In march. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in The Gambia. The room was spacious and spotless clean. Hotel is quiet and very relaxing. The staff were professional, helpful and friendly. Food was very good and the restaurant was welcoming. Check-in was quick and painless.

Open Golf Garden hotel facing the beach
Excellent hotel. Large appartement with living room, for the prise of à standard room. Nice green wellness désigner. The hotel has its own golf. Good food.

We had a great time there, we last went in 2012 and you can see the improvements to the resort. As usual everyone is very friendly and helpful. The weather as usual perfect.
