'Despite an excellent location just next to the entrance to the cathedral, this hotel is another of those run-down, bleak firetraps from way back in the last century. You know it's old as soon as you climb the narrow stairs to the tiny reception area and notice the grimy carpet and chipped woodwork. Getting to your room involves climbing meandering stairs that go one way, up another short flight of stairs, and then still in another direction. (There is no lift.) My room had a nice bed but little...

'This place is one step above!!! Such friendly hosts, lovely warm atmosphere. Beautifully decorated rooms. Quite literally faultless, well gladly return here again for a lovely break from London. Thank you boys, be very proud of what you have achieved. See you again soon.'

'Het heeft vooral de sfeer van een ‘guesthouse’, omdat het volledig gerund wordt door een uiterst aardig echtpaar, dat je ‘s morgens een prima ontbijt serveert en je op elk gewenst moment te woord zal staan. Heel anders dan een hotel met aardig maar afstandelijk personeel. De Lodge zelf is op leeftijd, dus verwacht geen hypermodern comfort.'
