Papaya Moon Villa Estate ligt op de luchtige bergtop van Upper Carolina en bestaat uit een eigenaarsappartement op het bovenste niveau en op het middelste niveau twee prachtig gerenoveerde onafhankelijke studiosuites, "A Place in the Sun" en "Suite Papaya". Gedeelde voorzieningen zijn verschillende grote overdekte en onoverdekte dekken, buitengrill, zwembad en pooldeck en een bubbelbad in de tuin op het bovenste niveau met uitzicht op Hurricane hole, het oostelijke uiteinde van St. John en de Britse Maagdeneilanden. Deze ZEER privé woning is gelegen op een groot stuk land in een tropische eilandomgeving. Als u op zoek bent naar een van de meest privévilla's op St. John, "Een plaats in de zon" verdient uw zorgvuldige overweging. Met speciale toegang tot de Northshore-stranden, Coral Bay restaurants en bars, fenomenale uitzichten en een volledige lijst met voorzieningen voor gasten, biedt deze speciale accommodatie in Upper Carolina zijn gasten een vakantie vol rust en kalmte. Het zwembad en het grote zwembadterras bevinden zich op het lagere niveau van de villa. Het gebied is een prachtige tuin met professionele landschapsarchitectuur en comfortabel meubilair om te zonnen, lezen of gewoon ontspanning. Terwijl eerdere bezoekers enthousiast zijn over St. John's prachtige landschappen en zeegezichten, het uitzicht op de nachtelijke hemel is even ongelooflijk. Gasten van "Papaya Moon Villa" worden geïnspireerd door de intensiteit van de schoonheid van onze sterren en maan. Wat is een betere plek om de schoonheid te bekijken dan in onze comfortabele spa!
Het pand bestaat uit gevestigde tropische tuinen met palmen, kokosnoten, papaja's, bananen, plantains, koffie, citrusbomen en een overvloed aan geurige tropische planten en bloemen.

Onlangs gerenoveerd het informele interieur van deze Caribische suites zijn geschilderd met heldere eilandkleuren en zijn ingericht met comfortabele rieten en rotan stoelen. Elke unit heeft een slaapkamer, een bad en een kitchenette bevinden zich beide op het middelste niveau en komen via een trap uit op een dek dat u betreedt via een betonnen verharde weg.

Een plek in de zon slaapt comfortabel twee, het beschikt over een kingsize bed, platform dagbed zitkamer, en kijkt uit op het zuiden en oosten, het vangen van prachtige zonsopgangen en passaatwinden waardoor AC niet nodig is.

Great Birding & National Park Getaway

Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views on the quieter side of the island. Property has lovely gardens, beautiful to see and very attractive to birds (one of our key interests). We saw 18 “life” species on the island, 14 of which we saw from the expansive deck. Hosts were very personable, with good recommendations on places to bird, eat and snorkel. It helped that they had snorkel equipment and beach towels for our use. Property was very clean and had everything we needed for a great stay. Very fun trip, we highly recommend.

Reviewing Paradise

We stayed at Papaya Moon for two weeks at the beginning of March 2025 in the “Place in the Sun” suite. Simply paradise. The mountaintop views and breezes are heavenly. It is a very private location, surrounded by Sue’s beautiful gardens and the natural beauty of the island. You have your option of lots of outdoor activities – swimming, kayaking, snorkeling in turquoise waters; hiking the many trails that range from challenging to easy-going strolls. Or you can relax on the deck and gaze at sea and sky every time you look up from your book. We’d call Coral Bay the quiet side of the island, in contrast to the busier beaches closer to Cruz Bay. Coral Bay has some good places to eat and hear music, and a pottery studio/gallery/gift shop with work by local artists. Ron and Sue are wonderful hosts. It was a pleasure to meet them and learn about their experiences on St. John and obvious devotion to their island community. All the amenities in the description are accurate – clean, well-equipped, wifi, nice little kitchen, etc. We were also able to take a look at the other suite, and it is equally lovely.— Cecilia V. & Carl F. 3/22/2025

A Slice of Heaven in Coral Bay

Papayamoon is in the best location in Coral Bay. It was easy to reach fabulous beaches and spots for dining and shopping. The views from the deck are spectacular. Our unit was spacious and well appointed with everything we needed. Ron, Sue and Thelma were lovely and gracious hosts.

Located in the upper Carolinas the views are great, and the evening breezes keep you nice and cool at night. The deck is huge and spacious, and Ron and Sue are great hosts. Definitely a great place to stay.

We travel a lot, wide variety in accommodations (keeps life interesting). Upon arrival, greeted by the pooch, MissThelma, then Sue. Immediately felt at home…..then she led us to the porch, stunning. A mountain top view east overlooking the Sir Francis Drake channel in the distance. Incredible sunrises, we’ll be back.

Beautiful location and a lovely open apartment that maximizes the sweeping views. Hosts were friendly and very helpful, while allowing privacy. The location is convenient, although out of the busy part of the island. Only complaint was the bed is a bit hard - could benefit from a mattress topper and all cotton sheets (just don't understand polyester sheets in a tropical climate).

Stunning retreat in the treetops

When my husband and I were looking for a relatively last-minute getaway, we felt so fortunate to have found Papaya Moon. It was a truly beautiful, quiet and complete package with luscious gardens and stunning views. The owners, Ron and Sue, were attentive and helpful for these first-time St John visitors. The unit had no AC, but the fans, trade winds and open windows with screens made it very comfortable. There were beach towels and a great beach bag waiting on is to use for the week. While we didn’t use the pool, we enjoyed the hot tub a few evenings and it was so nice to have access to both steps from the unit. Our only issues we had were some tiny sugar ants that kept coming in (an issue that happens all the time at the beach) and the proximity of the property to the main Cruz Bay area. If you are interested in dinner and/or drinks in the downtown in the evening, the drive back to the property is dark, curvy and a little nerve racking. We ended up arranging taxis two nights so we didn’t have to drive, and that was expensive, but worth it to us. However, if you want a peaceful retreat, and don’t have a desire to go to Cruz Bay much with excellent proximity to the beautiful north shore beaches, this is your place! We loved our stay and would love to come back.

Truly a beautiful property, inside and out. Secluded extremely private location with unbeatable views and still easily accessible to Coal Bay. The grounds are filled with beautiful flowers, fruit trees and native vegetation. The hosts were extremely helpful and clearly take great pride in the property. We will without a doubt be returning.

Stayed approx 5 days. Easy to communicate with owners, who are fantastic people! The place was beautifully furnished. Enjoyed the hot tub, pool, puzzles, cooler, local guide books, stunning views, kitchen, wrap-around balcony, comfy king sized bed. First aid kit in unit used for a minor cut, which was helpful to have. Drive to the home was not bad at all. Had a fantastic stay and would love to return!

We spend a week at this most breathtaking and special spot on St. John. Every morning was an epic sunrise and every night we fell asleep to a lovely breeze, as it sits high up in the hillside. One couldn't ask for better hosts too. We even had great neighbors that booked at the same time. Again, this couldn't have been better for us. This place was very clean and had everything we wanted. I will say that if you need a five star hotel and are prone to complain, I think you should look elsewhere. Don't burden these lovely people with that type of entitled energy. Haha.. You know who you are. Thank you, Sue and Ron, for such a special experience. Also, thank you Sue for your amazing life work in humanitarian causes. It was an honor to hear about it and you've certainly helped to change the lives of many people.

Honeymoon Bliss!

We had a wonderful time at Ron and Sue's property. It's a beautiful home in a magical part of St. John. I'm so glad we chose Coral Bay and incredibly lucky to have found Papaya Moon. The sunrises were stunning and there are so many ways to enjoy the gorgeous St. John weather and views at Ron and Sue's. We absolutely loved it! You will not regret choosing this property. If you're a first-timer, like we were...hot tip...get a car early, you'll need it! ;)

Paradise!

5 Stars all around. Owners Ron and Sue were wonderful and very knowledgeable about the Coral Bay side of the island. The unit had everything that I needed, was in great shape, and the views were nothing short of stunning. Not sure there is a better sunrise view anywhere on the island. The unit was very conveniently placed, with access to the north beaches a short, pleasant drive away. This place was exactly what I was looking for and for 5 nights, I felt like I had the world to myself! I will absolutely be back!!

Great 5 Day Escape to St. John

Papaya Moon has an exquisite view of Coral Bay and Hurricane Hole. The expansive deck offers relaxing seating and overlooks a variety of tropical plants. The apartment has all the amenities needed for a St. John getaway. Ron and Sue were excellent hosts, and had great suggestions, including the Crown Bay ferry as an alternative to going through Red Hook.

Perfect stay, beautiful home

I cannot say enough good things. I was looking for a relaxing, quiet get away and I found it. The home is better than described/pictured; it is well appointed, clean, spacious, amazing deck with AMAZING views. It is convenient to hiking, north shore beaches and only 30 mins to Cruz Bay if you want to go into town. Hosts were great, very helpful and full of information, but also gave me my privacy.

A true paradise getaway!

Ron and Sue were wonderful and gracious hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed talking with them and learning about STJ from them. *LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE This Place & St John*

From the moment I traveled to St John to when I left 10 days later, Magic Was Everywhere. I knew nothing about the island or which place to stay is good before I arrived. My intuition was beyond gifted here, as I chose this AMAZING property Papaya Moon, which has the most stunning view of enchanted green islands/mountains and blue Coral Bay. I stare from the bed and the lanai like "Is This Real?" A Place In the Sun was my favorite color Yellow, and is a spacious large studio with a gorgeous angle of Coral Bay. King size bed and hot tub, Yay!! I also stayed at Papaya Suite, also awesome and the view looking more to the mountain side and some bay. Sue and Ron were fabulous and very friendly and helpful. I fell in love with the island St John. She is very sacred and healing. There's nature and animals, like butterflies, flowers, green trees everywhere, deer, donkeys, bees, fish, etc. The roads are windy and steep in some areas, and I got used to it after 3 days. I loved staying in the more rural, secluded side of the island. Cruz Bay is too busy for me, and it's not even that busy! Lol. I'll be back!! Mandy :)
