Ruim huis met prachtig uitzicht op zee

Helensdale ligt in open landschap boven een rotsachtige baai met uitzicht op het Noord-Kanaal. Het is onlangs volledig gerenoveerd om luxe zelfstandige accommodatie te bieden, en is de ideale keuze als u er van wilt weggaan. Het pittoreske vissersdorp Portpatrick, met zijn traditionele haven en klein zandstrand, heeft vele kwaliteitsrestaurants, pubs en cadeauwinkels op slechts 25 minuten rijden. Andere activiteiten te vinden in Portpatrick zijn boottochten voor vissen en sightseeing, putting, bowling, golf en wandelen. Helensdale is een ideale uitvalsbasis voor de golfliefhebber met 4 golfbanen binnen 20 minuten rijden, namelijk: Dunskey, Lagganmore, Craichmore en County - er is ook Turnberry op minder dan 1 uur rijden. Voor fijne wandelaars zijn er uitgebreide wandelroutes, waaronder de Southern Upland Way, die begint in het dorp Portpatrick en de Galloway Coastal path van Stranraer naar Mull of Galloway. Helensdale Holiday House is gelegen in de Rhinen van Galloway, een schiereiland met een variërend en betoverend aanbod aan kustgebieden van zandstranden aan de oostkust, zoals Sandhead - 7 mijl ongebroken zand, naar een aantal kliffen, rotsen en zandige baaien op het Westen, inclusief het afgelegen zandstrand bij Killantringan. U wordt verwend voor de keuze met de grote verscheidenheid aan stranden in de omgeving. Het klimaat wordt hier verwarmd door de golfstroom en het gebied is de thuisbasis van veel befaamde tuinen. Logan Botanic, Logan House, Ardwell, Kasteel Kennedy, Glenwhan en Dunskey liggen allemaal binnen 10-25 minuten rijden van Helensdale. Voor de meer avontuurlijke is er Threave en Culzean Castle binnen 1 uur rijden van uw vakantiehuis. Andere attracties zijn onder andere: Cream van Galloway IJs & Avontuurspark en het Laggan Outdoor Activity Center, beide dichtbij. Gatehouse of Fleet. 7Stanes Mountainbiken in het park Galloway Forest. Cacao Bonen Chocoladefabriek in Twynholm. Ryan Center zwembad in Stranraer. Glenluce Abbey. St Ninians Cave in de buurt van Whithorn. Helensdale biedt een ideale uitvalsbasis voor een vakantie in het ongerepte zuidwesten van Schotland. Het is helemaal 'weg van alles', je ziet meer boten dan auto's en meer wild leven dan mensen. Het heeft ononderbroken vies van Ierland vanuit het voorruit een uitkijkpunt die de gasten nooit betovert.

Wonderful cottage

Helensdale is one of the best houses we have been in; and we travelled a lot. Calm, cosy, spacious and very relaxed, but elegant. Great kitchen, very good beds. We will come back.

Large cottage with a wonderful view

Helendale was our second cottage in Scotland and we loved it like the other before. We were six people and two dogs and had space for everyone. The next shop is ten minutes away by car, but the reward is quitness, you are only hearing the sea and seagulls, and a stunning view for sundowners.

Helensdale is a fantastic place to stay. The views from the living room are incredible, I always take binoculars with me wherever I go as I enjoy bird watching (there are some binoculars in the property) and looking out on the bay was fantastic. I saw an array of birds and even managed to see 2 seals and a porpoise. Also on a clear day you can see the coastline of Northern Ireland. The property is very comfortable and clean and is quite deceptive space wise. Big kitchen with sun room and big living room. Bathrooms and bedrooms are also a good size. Highly recommended.

Schöne Unterkunft

Die Lage und das Cottage sind toll. Es ist schön gelegen, mit ein tollen Aussicht. Wer Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit mag, ist hier genau richtig. Das Cottage ist vollständig und liebevoll eingerichtet. Uns hat es dort sehr gefallen!

Lovely Cottage

Had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage. Very well equipped, and comfortable. Very peaceful, with great views, and lots of interesting wildlife around, which we watched from the large, airy lounge. Will be recommending to all our friends and family. Definitely will be coming back.

Perfect

This is truly a wonderful location if you need time and space to reset and restore body and soul. We enjoyed wonderful weather and walking on the Scottish Upland way and the Mull of Galloway trail. There is so much to see of interest within a short distance and the Botanical Gardens at Port Logan are a must visit, it was paradise on a beautiful warm sunny day. The cottage was warm and comfortable with everything we needed and the views over the bay were stunning. Elspeth and family were very helpful providing information during the challenging COVID -19 restrictions. We were warmly welcomed every where we went and we will return for sure. If you prefer your holiday accommodation to be a beautifully maintained cottage, surrounded by fields frequented by deer, overlooking a cove where seals visit daily, and close proximity to glorious beaches and places of interest (many historical), then this destination is for you!

Outstanding short break with gorgeous views

The house is extremely spacious and relaxing - a great place to return to after a day out walking. There are lots of places to go within short driving distance (or walks on the doorstep!). Elspeth got in touch just to make sure we were ok which was a lovely touch. We would definitely recommend Helensdale!

A real home-from-home

This was our first visit to the South Rhins, and it certainly lived up to it's reputation as a secret little corner of Scotland. Tourism is very low key on this peninsula, so if you're looking for peace and tranquility you will not be disappointed. The word "breathtaking" is overused these days but the location of Helensdale, and the views from the front windows most certainly do take your breath away. To be honest, the website photos do not come anywhere near doing the views justice - prepare to be astonished. The property was beautifully presented, and welcoming - we both felt immediately at home, and we were genuinely amazed at the sheer space. All rooms are light, airy and so spacious. If you want to escape the rat-race and truly get away from it all....look no further.

Lovely Getaway

We spent a lovely week at Helensdale. A remote location - we saw more wildlife than people - with stunning views across the sea to Ireland. We can recommend the area for a holiday - lovely quiet beaches and beautiful countryside. The house itself is like the Tardis - it seems much bigger on the inside! Very spacious with plenty of room for all our family and dog with out us getting in each other's way. it was also well equipped and comfortable. Elspeth popped over during the week to check all was ok for us.

Great holiday in a great home

A beautiful area in this really well equipped house. It is very clean, the beds and bathrooms are great, the kitchen is well suited to prepare meals for a family. It is well suited for 6 people, because the kitchen and dining area is followed by a small living room. We walked a lot, visited 2 wonderful gardens, as well as the Portpatrick and Sandhead beach. Elspeth lovingly welcomed us with biscuits and a cozy warm house. So the holiday started directly. We would like to staying longer.

Magical retreat

If you are looking for a place away from it all and at one with nature, very well appointed and extremely comfortable, you have found it! The views and surroundings are no less than stunning. Expansive meadows and stone walls meet the grandeur of the ocean. Blooming daffodils and crocuses despite rare snow, and the view of Ireland coastal lights were welcome surprises. The home is delightful, outfitted with a perfect kitchen, cozy furniture, comfortable beds, a lovely fireplace, a soothing bathtub and large windows that allow you to soak in the environment. While secluded, provisions and experiences are a short drive away. The welcoming hospitality provided by Elspeth was spectacular. The solace and simplicity of it all will bring us back.
