  • Slechts 2. 5 mijl van Swanage met zijn mooie zandstrand dit charmante huisje is een heerlijk uitje voor een paar.


    Genesteld in het rustige gehucht Acton, op slechts 1,6 km van de zee en de kliffen van het prachtige Dancing Ledge, genieten deze twee charmante, monumentale, voormalige steengroeve vakantiehuisjes van hun eigen gemeubileerde tuinen. Het aanbieden van gezellige accommodatie voor koppels met veel rustieke charme (met laag balken en stenen vuur omringt), bezetten ze ofwel het einde van een rij van drie in een beschermd gebied, met een prachtig uitzicht op Swanage Bay en vele uitstekende wandelingen langs de kust paden of door charmante dorpen, drie herbergen liggen binnen een mijl en een half. Swanage, 2 km, biedt een prachtig zandstrand samen met vele andere attracties, zoals winkels, restaurants en herbergen, een theater en een uitgebreid scala aan sportfaciliteiten. Bournemouth 25 mijl. Poole 20 mijl. Winkels ½ mijl en pub 1 mijl.

    Houd er rekening mee dat de accommodatie lage plafonds heeft en dat deuropeningen en trappen steil en smal zijn, dus daarom mogelijk niet geschikt voor de minder mobiele.
    Neem vanuit Londen de M3, M27 en A31 richting het westen. Ga door tot de rotonde met de A350 naar Poole links aangegeven. Volg deze weg tot u bij een grote rotonde komt - Poole links, Dorchester rechts. Neem de vierbaansweg naar Dorchester. Na een korte afstand komt u op een rotonde, sla linksaf de A351 naar Wareham. Volg bij Wareham de borden naar Corfe Castle. Net nadat u Corfe Castle verlaat, slaat u rechtsaf naar Langton Matravers. Rij de heuvel op en door het dorp Kingston, nog steeds op dezelfde weg. Passeer de eerste en tweede bocht naar rechts ondertekend Worth Matravers en sla vervolgens rechtsaf tegenover de telefooncel ondertekend Acton. Cottages zijn aan de linkerkant.

Had a lovely 4 day break.

Had a lovely 4 day break. The cottage itself is really lovely and cosy but with no central heating it was very cold. There is little electric heaters in every room but the electric which you pay for at the end of the stay is very expensive. There is also a woodburner which heats the room beautifully the only downside is there are no instructions and if you have never come across a woodburner before is difficult to use. Also no wood is left to start the fire when you first arrive. No welcome pack at all not even a couple of teabags.But it is still a lovely cottage and we loved our stay and will go back.

Bittersweet

The cottage is cute and in a lovely rural location; an easy distance from Swanage with its bars and restaurant. The cottage itself was basic and was an okay base but with a few tweaks, could be so much better. To begin with, I didn’t receive any access instructions and spend a few stressful hours at the start of my stay trying to contact the host; I was in a telephone loop! On finally getting in, there was no instructions left by the host apart from an A4 sheet which asked that the property be left in a clean and tidy manner and to ask for more cleaning products if needed! The sofa was uncomfortable as was the bed. The kettle needed descaling, and the shower attachment let out either very hot or very cold water! The wood burner (for which fuel was not provided), burned up the wood but provided little heat. The heating, for which you pay as an extra, did little to actually heat the cottage. So whilst the place looked nice, it wasn’t the most comfortable of stays. However, if you don’t intend to spend much time there, it’s a good location to explore the local sights, which were awesome.

Log fire difficult as nowhere 'local'really had logs and lack of local knowledge made finding these awkward without using holiday time. We used electric heating which was expensive. Lovely little cottage.

Lovely little cottage. Unbelievably uncomfortable sofa but gorgeous bed so this is a perfect cottage if you're going to be out and about most of the day /evening (great pubs nearby) Felt a bit strange having to pay for the electricity on top of the normal rent but it didn't amount to much (£1.27) - an even more compelling reason for the owner not to bother as the goodwill lost for the sake of such a sum seemed rather ill judged. We did take a crate of logs for the log burner which worked well so didn't need the extra, optional electric radiators, depsite it being the coldest, wettest weekend of the year so far (thanks Storm Alex!! and thank heavens for an effective washer/dryer) Excellent location though to get out and explore the Ridge. A lovely cottage with all the amenities you need and a well equipped kitchen, just a 20 minute walk down to Dancing Ledge and the coastal path. Just a very short drive to Swanage where there are plenty of shops and pubs. The cottage is very cold in the evenings, but there are heaters. Bring your dog's bed and a pair of slippers as the tiled floors are also very cold

The cottage was good and the location is fab.

The cottage was good and the location is fab. It was chilly though so do be prepared to use the log burner. It would have been really helpful to have a folder in the cottage with info about how to use the heating, bin collection days plus local amenities. WiFi wasn’t great, which was ok for us but could have been tricky if you needed to work. Parking was to be in the yard next door but there was a large party staying with many cars so there wasn’t space for us. This might not be typical though. we had a problem with the hot water and this was sorted on the same day, which was much appreciated. Very comfy bed and great location for walking. There’s also a bus stop at the end of the road.

Nice cottage, good location for exploring coastline etc. Our dog enjoyed all the walks accessible from the door as did we. Need to be careful with low beams and would highly recommend the owner invest in a new shower as the one in the bath is extremely poor.
