Barely a hotel
The check-in desk was a pub. You had to walk through the pub to get to the rooms. When I asked if my room was ready the owner made me wait a half an hour before actually checking. He held my bags in his office/wine storage space. My room was next to a courtyard with a food truck. I think my room was an old bathroom. To finish off, the owner told me that if I didn't feel safe walking through the pub at night that I could use the alley next door (I am a 20 year old, female student) and he did not see the the issue in that. I immediately went to a close-by ibis and that was a million times better. Even the taxi driver that brought me from this hotel to the ibis didn't find the 'hotel' safe.

Simple and clean accomodation. Convenient location and great food at the bistro. Rooms close to beer garden were a little noisey from patrons downstairs. Overall no complaints

Will never stay at this hotel on a Friday night again. No where to park in the back street! Have stayed at this pub before and enjoyed the food BUT Friday nights the place is packed with tradies and other hi vis shirted guys and girls every where so didn't eat there went to the next hotel. Could'nt get to sleep because of NOISY Karaoke going on till very late. Sorry but Friday nights are disappointing at this pub!

It was good location to the airport, it was a hotel but did not like the way we checked in. This was done through the bar and we had to complete paperwork which had credit card details on it and it was just placed on a bench as the staff went off to serve other patrons

Nice place. Be aware music plays until midnight and WiFi didn't reach rooms. Good is meant to be good there. Rooms are pretty nice

Good location near the airport, parking easy and once the pub crowd eased off (about 9pm), it was very quiet. Rooms are very comfortable.

Its really close to the airport, Friendly staff, check in was quick and they booked a taxi for our return to the airport.

Good and bad
Close to Sydney airport and unlike other 2 or 3-star hotels in Sydney with shared bathrooms, the rooms at Captain Cook Hotel have a private bathrooms. Clean too. The only thing really that disappointed me is that their WiFi was not working the whole time i was there. Not even in the lobby/lounge/pub area. Good thing the hostess was kind enough to allow me to use the computer in their office. But still, i would have preferred the convenience of WiFi. Overall, i'd give Captain Cook a 3 out of 5.

Very helpful & apologetic staff at check in with a small hiccup with room, not their fault. Previous guest taking both keys to room and they promptly gave myself & mate a room each t no extra charge. Very helpful and considerate. Rooms were comfortable and clean and perfectly located to the Lakes Golf Club for our Australian Open Golf weekend. only 3 mins to the course.

I did read reviews and knew this was above a pub. However, checking in on a Saturday night, I hadn't anticipated the noise level. The gentleman at the bar checked me in but we pretty much had to yell to hear each other. Live band playing and the place was packed. I checked in around 10 pm. I was a solo female traveler and I was uncomfortable walking through the pub to check in. The room was adequate for a single night. Bed comfortable and bathroom clean. I was in Sydney for less than 10 hours and didn't want to spend a lot on a room. Location ideal for airport access.

Great Aussie pub
A real characterful Aussie pub with rooms. Good range of beers and food at reasonable prices. The room was quite simple, but fine for our one night stay before flying out. The rooms overlook the rear courtyard, but we had no noise for our midweek stay in May. Staff are friendly and helpful with things like ordering taxis. No breakfast is served but there are places opposite open from about 3 a.m. for eating in or take away.

Friendly hotel close to the airport.
Friendly staff, easy and qick check-in at the bar. Rooms are upstairs, no lift. Room was very clean. The rug a little worn. The bed was saggy, but OK for one night. The bathroom was modern and spotlessly clean.
