We had some hassle when we arrived- misunderstanding about reservation but the hotel people tried and did compensate that. Arrival not before 4 pm should be more clearly indicated.

Nice hotel with cosy area's.
We booked a room on the first floor, because we read some reviews, one of the rooms on the ground floor was in a corner next to the breakfast area. (see other reviews over here) when we arrived they gave us this room...but when we asked if something went wrong, we were replaced to another room on the first floor the next morning. We also got an upgrade I assume, so solved perfectly. Our stay was great, but we would not recommend to book room "0". This room is moist, has no windows, and is directly to the breakfast room. so when someone takes a breakfast early, you will also be woken up early. and when you get out of the room, everyone faces you directly...feels like you have no privacy. all the other rooms seem to be perfect. It is a nice, old (the facilities are modern :), don't worry), cosy hotel with really nice details. The staff was really nice and helpful.

What a shame
Room was good but smaller as expected with those beautiful photos... And that my friends was the only good point of this hotel! Bathrooms were a disaster, toilets and shower in the same 2 square meters, oh and not even 1 metres high in front of the toilet so I have to pee sitted ?! You kidding me? Did I book a boat trip? Oh and best of all, theses bathroom were filthy and we had to share them with 3 other rooms... Just imagine me wanting to go to pee while someone was taking a shower... well I had to go and pee in the street! Worst thing was to brush my teeth cause we didn't have a sink into our room and the smell was so bad in this cupboard bathroom that it was impossible to stay more than 3 min in at night (after everybody showered the pipes were doing reflux) Breakfast was dreadful, one day the orange juice was sour, there was no variety whatsoever coffee, tea, bread, ham, sour ham, eggs but we couldn't find out witch ones were hard boil or not and bland cereal. I don't recommend going to this place. there's a lot of potential the rooms are really great but this hotel is managed like a circus... I don't usually give bad reviews but well there's a first time for everything.

Handig omdat het dichtbij het vliegveld is.
Grappig oud gebouw. Praktisch geen personeel. Er komt iemand je even binnenlaten en daarna zie je niemand meer. Badkamer boven is afgesloten en er is alleen nog maar een toilet met douche beneden. Er is een self service tafel in de hal waar wat versnaperingen en koffie kunnen worden gehaald, die je nog wel moet betalen, maar eerst zelf op de lijst moet aangeven. Er wordt eventueel een sandwich voor je klaargelegd in de koelkast als je vroeg moet vertrekken.

Malta accommodation is expensive and this room is no exception. Stone walls and floors cold on the feet , duvet too thick for comfortable sleeping, but a fridge & coffee making facilities were good. Main problem was trying to get hot water to wash or shower. Finally fixed on the day I left. No shops nearby and evening meals either meant going to another village or eating at only one or two places. I wouldn't stay here again and it's definitely not a place for a family stay, in my opinion.

The location is strategically placed between the airport and Valletta, essentially there is NO easy street parking available. I relied on the bus, routes from Valletta serving the area include No. 81, 82, 84 & 88 journey time 20-25 minutes approximately every 15-20 minutes. A 5-10 minute walk from the respective bus stop. Check-in was welcoming, I was allocated Room 4, a single double bed with ensuite bathroom, each presented to a high cleaning standard. There was NO TV but the Wifi was good. The bed was comfortable. Also for an extra €15 a contential breakfast was offered. Definitely stay again.

Wystrój rewelacyjny, ale na tym koniec...Mimo wykupionej rezerwacji online trzeba się prosić (telefonicznie) o dokonanie odbioru swojego pokoju, który był opłacony z góry. Pomimo wpisu o check in od 16-19 nie ma nikogo na miejscu. Sama rezerwacja nie wystarczy aby móc się zameldować - musisz przesyłać im foto dokumentów itd. Nie jest to żadnym standardem na Malcie. Obsługa nie miła. Następnego dnia w trakcie śniadania prawie na talerz została nam wręczona kartka do wypełnienia z danymi. Przy wyjeździe dla pani, która tam pracowała liczyło się tylko to, żeby oddać jej klucze i to jeszcze w czasie, gdy nie był czas wymeldowania (na korytarzu wychodząc ze śniadania chciała, żeby klucze zostały zwrócone). Pokój śmierdzący stęchlizną (dopiero jak otworzyliśmy okienko można było czymś oddychać), kosz w toalecie nie był opróżniony. "Śniadanie" przy stolikach, które nie były posprzątane. Ubogie (parę kromek chleba tostowego na wszystkich gości, mały serek pokrojony na 5 kawałków, 2 rodzaje wędliny w plasterkach) i niesmaczne. Ogólnie brak serdeczności i zainteresowania gośćmi.

Shower is very tight and maid forgot to bring new set of towels the following day. Complimentary bottled water would have been nice too. Otherwise, it was a very nice inn conveniently located to a bus stop. Would stay again.

Where was the customer service???
Arrived early by bicycle on the ferry. Arrived at the place early and the owner’s daughter allowed us to leave our panniers and check in later. Back later and the desk clerk checked us in and showed us where we could store our bikes. Everything seemed good. The room was comfortable and the wifi reception was good. Later that night, the clerk came back and said that due to a clerical error, we had been allocated the wrong room and asked that we relocate. Stuff happens, so we moved. The new room had no outside window and smelled badly of mildew and mould. And where was the wifi? The clerk apologized and said that they were trying to rectify the problem, but that would not happen until after we leave. Even the regular service was sporadic — at best. I have several clients that I need to be in contact with. Then, the next day, the Clerk said that the owner told him that the bikes needed to be moved out to the front of the hotel and chained to a fence. Really? His daughter saw the bikes. No comment from her. And, no direct communication from the owner! No apologies or rationale. Just rants at the clerk. My recommendation — look elsewhere.

Pros: closed by bus station and airport. Cons: no tv, no 24/7 receptionist We got there earlier so we just leave our luggage and came back at 4pm to check in. I noticed their is no soap, so we went out to buy one, I send the review to Expedia about not having soap the next day they provided soap and hair dryer which we appreciate. Please be reminded that this property is a guesthouse no 24/7 receptionist, if you will be arriving late night or early in the morning make sure you have a clear communication to the management and you fully understand the instructions that will be provided to you. I booked a courtyard room with a king bed but I was given something else which is fine with us. We didn’t had a chance to have their breakfast because we woke up late, I don’t have any idea what kind of breakfast their serving. Over all our stay is satisfactory.

HATED no staff at check in time to get in. My phone was acting up and I had to first get my cab driver to call the number posted by the door and step inside. Then I stepped inside (super cute) and hoped I could find a code for their WiFi because we were still not given the key (wanted a photo of our passport first)…. We searched for 10 minutes to find internet password and I finally had to knock on another guest’s door to request it from her. This is a very BAD way to start a trip with an otherwise nice property! Both the WiFi, and the request for passport photos SHOULD have been given at least 24 hours before arrival (we are SuperHosts with 4 rental properties ourselves). Also the place is VERY dark at night and it was challenging to navigate the many stairs at night….we had to walk 4 flights of stairs (to reach the room at the top which WAS very nice!!!) but needed lights too

Notre séjour a été agréable bien que notre arrivée hors horaire 19h15 ait été assez laborieux ; Obligée de fournir par message une copie de nos deux passeports en plus de la réservation afin d'obtenir le code de la boite à clé . Sans téléphone avec nous cela n'aurait pas été possible . La maison est trés bien restaurée, chambre avec terrasse tout en haut trés agréable . Je déplore simplement que les petits déjeuners ne soient pas proposés . Le distributeur automatique à disposition ne remplacera jamais un petit déjeuner . Pour une mison d'hôte quelques capsules de café mises à disposition aurait été le bienvenues sans avoir à les acheter via le distributeur , car même pour utiliser la machine à expresso il nous a fallu acheter une bouteille d'eau car rien n'a été mis à disposition . Pour le reste, tout était ok, trés jolie décoration .

Very nice and charming place with traditional Maltese character. The only concern was that our antique bed developed a problem but I’m sure it was a bit of unlucky for us and owner will fix it for the next guests! Great job with restoration! Highly recommend!

This was a total disaster for us and the guest house. We did not go due to illness. I informed hotels.com, they did not pass on the message, I contacted the place via a website which had their contact details etc on it. But the guest house still had not read it and expected us to turn up so email info how to get it. Very unlikely to use hotels.com to book this type of stay ever again.

Burrow Guest House
Very unique guest house with stone walls, large windows and atrium areas. The house is located in a residential area within walking distance of the Tarxien Temples, a very historic district. A little difficult to find but with the help of local resident, I eventually found the place. It’s located close to the airport so it is convenient place to stay for an early morning flight.

Old world charm guesthouse in Tarxien area
This is a boutique family run bed and breakfast that has an old world charm. The rooms have air conditioning and wifi access. There is a tub and shower. There is no television. A bountiful breakfast is served and a packed breakfast is available for early check out. The facility has limited staff hours. If checking in after 7 PM, there is a surcharge, but a key drop is available; however bring a flashlight to see the key pad as there is no external lighting in that area. The guesthouse can be reached easily by bus from the airport with about 800 meters walk from the bus stop. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Old city area easy to reach by public transportation.

Charming guesthouse
We loved the Burrow! It has a lot of character and has been nicely renovated without losing the charm of an old house. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and you could have wished for some fresh bread but otherwise there was plenty to choose from and we could have it outside in the atrium. There are a lot of stairs and steps so I would not recommend it to disabled or families with toddlers. We had room nine with a private, very nice, bathroom and our own balcony. The bed is quite short, which is fine for us, but might be an issue for someone taller. The area is residential but if you walk ten minutes to Paola you find shops and restaurants. We can especially recommended a small Italian one on the right side of the church, Panormus Tavernetta. Very good food and friendly owner. The bus to Valletta is 12 minutes away.

Wundervolles historisches Haus, stil- und liebevoll mit Antiquitäten eingerichtet, herzlicher Empfang, sehr hilfsbereites Personal. Die alten Steinmauern und -böden sehen zwar schön aus, sind aber im Winter recht kühl, und ein Klimagerät mit Heizfunktion schafft es nicht, für eine angenehme Wohnraumtemperatur zu sorgen. Im Sommer hingegen wäre das ein Vorteil...

Checkin was great, considering our extremely late arrival. Staff very helpful. Room very small, mattress uncomfortable, only one plug point. Nice big bath with loads of hot water. No complimentary water! Good breakfast, but very cramped area. Overall, excellent for overnight stay from the airport.

Lovely Little Burrow!
Arrived very late at night to a surprise upgrade and greeted with a friendly, welcoming smile!! Everything was explained to me in detail and Igor made sure I was comfortably settled. I was absolutely enthralled by the renovation of the farmhouses and the darling Guesthouse it has become-a job very tastefully done! Breakfast next morning was plentiful and delicious! WiFi was instant. Excellent location for my needs!

We stayed for one night on our way from the airport to our main hotel. The Burrow is a charming quaint building in Tarxien close to the Temples and Hypogeum. The staff were friendly and breakfast excellent. The room was a bit small but adequate for our one night stay. Will stay again if we need an overnight et in Malta.

Romantic Burrows
We loved The Burrow. We called for an early check in and we're accommodated right away. The place is quiet, clean and has a romantic ambiance. The many narrow glass stairs to the room were very inconvenient especially since we had suitcases to carry up and down and the ceilings are very low resulting in my husband hurting the top of his head twice not once. Overall we loved it and would gladly go back there anytime we have an early flight to catch out of Malta because of its convenient proximity to the airport.

How exciting can it get. I was born down the street from the house 71 years ago! I am extatic over the stay my wife and had....it was a trip down memory in the most exquisite B & B I have experienced in my life. The property has been restored with an inducement of modern facilities compiled by the preservation of a 500 yr old building. We’ll done!! JW

delightful stay in 400 year old home
had a brief but lovely stay at the Burrow House. A gorgeous 400 year old home that felt like staying in a castle. Room was immaculate and beautiful with access to a small rooftop terrace; perfect to enjoy a bottle of wine with the setting sun. There was ample choice for breakfast including meats, cheeses, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, tea, coffee and juices. Staff were great to hold our bags beyond checkout as we went out exploring. One hiccup was the lack of hot water in the shower but we never bothered to mention it. Wish we had been able to stay longer !
