Peaceful Country Escape
Located on 450 acres with a working farm, unit is clean, well furnished , has good AC/heating system. Owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Loved the front porch that was covered so we could hang out during a night time Texas thunderstorm, and a separate area with an outdoor fire pit for when weather is nice. Plenty of room to take a walk out in the pasture with a pond that has a paddleboat. This is a great place to escape to the country life and relax and rejuvenate. Highly recommend.

Great escape close to Dallas
Scenic and relaxing respite so close to Dallas. Hosts were helpful and accessible. House was very comfortable. Wonderful large 2-level dock equipped with fishing gear - good place to fish, paddle boat or watch the sunset. Really enjoyed our stay.

Country charm and relaxation
The perfect couples getaway! My husband, cousin and her husband got away for a long weekend getaway for some relaxation away from the city. We absolutely loved this place, quiet country charm but close to everything We enjoyed fishing, the fire pit, and seeing all the animals. Anne was a super host She was very friendly and mad us feel like we were family, we did not feel like strangers. We will definitely go back to this location when we need that quiet getaway!

Wonderful
We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, fishing pond and the fire pit. I couldn’t drag my husband from the pond much. Ann and Don were a delight!

Not a good experience.
Went with 5 other women for a Canton shopping trip. First - the listing is wrong:The listing says this property is 14 miles from Canton but it is actually 31 miles. The trailer was dirty: the refrigerator was filthy. The first day the kitchen was invaded with thousands of ants that they thankfully sprayed for. They do not provide adequate paper products: The owner only provided one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and one roll of paper towels. We had six women and asked for more and were told they do not provide more. Finally, Don’t expect the owner to respond if you have an emergency. We were locked out of the trailer on the second night when we returned about 9:15 pm. The owner would not answer texts or emails. They live on the property and we rang the doorbell of their house and no answer even though there were several barking dogs inside. The owner told us the next day they went to bed at 8:15 and didn’t hear the calls or the doorbell. We had two diabetics with us that needed their insulin so we called a lock smith to get in. We have asked for a refund for the locksmith but the owner has not responded. VRBO was great when we called them and offered to put us in a hotel but the diabetics really needed to get their insulin. Overall the worst VRBO rental I have stayed in. I would not recommend.

We are sad to see the above INACCURATE review and respond as follows: 1. Apparently Canton is 22miles according to Google. This is our mistake and we will rectify the entry forthwith. 2. The Porch fridge is spotless! The entire accommodation is kept immaculate and has had 5 STAR reviews ALL YEAR!. 3. This is country, ants suddenly show up, and they are dealt with as soon as we know about them. 4. For a 2 night stay we provide brand new toilet rolls in each bathroom and a new paper towel roll in the kitchen every time. In this case, more was requested and the maid replaced the items as requested within the hour. She also locked the door when she left as usual. 5. These ladies FORGOT TO TAKE THE KEY HANGING IN THE KITCHEN IN FULL VIEW when they left the property. It is described in the guest book and hangs in full view. Our home is 10,000 sq. ft. and we sleep on the 3rd floor. We cannot hear door bells or banging from there. Our alternate phone number IS provided in the guestbook AND on our cards left on the kitchen countertop of the Porch. No one used the second number which rings in our bedroom. and of course would have alerted us. We would have responded immediately should this have been the case. We wish these ladies happy travels and hope they find somewhere suitable for their future trips. We do suggest however they always take THE KEY to their rental property, as hosts we are not responsible for property left in an unlocked rental. We are however very happy to have had a wonderful year of happy travelers who have been delighted with their stay and left us such heartwarming messages and reviews. We wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Great place for rest and relaxation
This was our second trip to this location. I am not sure which visit was the best. They were both relaxing, enjoyable. The scenery was still as beautiful as the first time we went. The owners have worked to make sure your stay is enjoyable and delightful. They are continuously working to add things to the property so you can feel at home. The lake and the fishing were super great. The place is wonderful for fishing. Thank you Ann and Dan for yet another memorable moment..... The Smith's

I have to leave a review.. my doctor requested that I take some time off from work and just relax. My aunt who is the same age, decided she needed some time off also.. laugh on the pouch with a bottle of wine until sunrise.. Our host came to make sure we found everything amd left us some fresh farm eggs & bacon, and cookies.. they gave us a tour of the property.. just beautiful.. thanks Anna/ Don.

Beautiful, relaxing moment on the property of Don and Ann
This is such a wonderful property to visit and enjoy. We had such a wonderful time fishing, enjoying the peace and sincerity that this property brings. If you are looking for a place to just unwind, relax and enjoy yourself and family this is the place to be. There is lots to do you can relax on the porch while listening to all of Gods goodness. You can fish in the pond that is stocked with plenty of fish. You can enjoy the paddle boat that overlooks the beautiful property. You can relax under the beautiful ski. The mornings are great for mediation and yoga. There is a lovely atmosphere for relaxing and enjoying movies and family time. Enjoy a front yard barbeque or you can smoke fish on the grill. So if you are passing through Terrell and need to stop over and rest this is a great place to release your stress. Thank you Don and Ann for making our stay such a pleasant experience. Thank you for the fresh eggs and the fresh baked cake. Be blessed always

Awesome and relaxed Country side break.
Thanks to Don and Ann for been incredible hosts and very helpful through out our stay. If you need and serene and relaxed family break with your kids away from TV, then this is the place. We did fishing for the first time in our lives with my kids at Gazebo and we spend entire day catching at least 15 of them and releasing fish back. Awesome experience. All you need to get is bait(available at the nearby Exxon store) as the Gazebo has variety of fishing rods to choose from for all age groups. Surprised with awesome cool weather and relax at the porch listening to the birds and the sound of the hens. You could do barbecue as well but may be next time. Please check out this place if you really want to relax in country side.

Wonderful Family Getaway
We had such a great time at The Porch! Don and Ann were both extremely kind and accommodating. The pier and the fishing pond were amazing! We spent most of our time there. Our 5 and 8 year olds had a blast fishing for bass and brim. The pier being covered was even perfect for our 11 month old to keep him out of the sun. If you are looking for a low key fishing trip for you and your kids, then The Porch is the place for you!
