Always a favourite with OVO Network guests, Chalet Colombine has now been beautifully renovated and extended by its new owners to offer even more!
This refurbished 5 star farm, which was built in 1850, now sleeps up to 16 people in seven bedrooms with seven bathrooms. It also has a private cinema and a fabulous indoor swimming pool (5mx3mx1.5m) with a lounge area and its own film screen!
Situated in Les Villards-sur-Thônes, the chalet is a two-minute drive from the main road between St-Jean-de-Sixt and Thônes, and from a large supermarket. The ski resorts of La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand are both just five minutes drive from St-Jean-de-Sixt, so you've got great skiing in both directions. You will need a car, and there are four parking spaces outside the chalet.
In fact when you stay at Chalet Colombine you've got the best of all worlds, winter and summer, as the chalet is in the mountains and yet within a 30 minute drive of the beautiful lakeside town of Annecy.
Children will love the bedroom on the attic floor – a dormitory-style room with eight built-in bunks and a TV corner. It's like having a sleepover every night!
On the ground floor there's a double bedroom and bathroom as well as the main open plan living area. There's a sleek kitchen, utility room, and two dining areas (children have their own dining corner). The room opens on to a furnished terrace with a fire pit, and another terrace - with the new jacuzzi - runs the length of the property. There is a further furnished stone terrace as you arrive at the property, so you can always find a place in the sun, whatever the time of day.
The sitting area is perfect for cosy nights in front of the fire, but perhaps the most exciting new feature is the glass panel in the floor, from which you can see the indoor swimming pool and lounge area on the floor below!
The lower floor is also home to the sauna, where you can relax after a busy day in the mountains. Upstairs there's another sitting area, a games room with pool table and a juke box which you can play from your phone or tablet. Off this room is a luxurious private cinema with reclining seats and there's another play area on the landing. This floor is also home to five of the bedrooms, four of which are en suite, and a family bathroom. All of the bedrooms have French and English power sockets as well as USB points - vital for charging phones, tablets and laptops.
The most recent addition is a ski room with heated boot rack and changing room and a shower near the jacuzzi.
The chalet is decorated throughout in classy neutral shades, with lots of throws and cushions, making it a great place to relax at the end of a busy day. The new owners have done a fantastic job renovating this popular chalet, so if it's the one for you, don't miss your chance to book it!

Halfway between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand ski resorts, you can ski somewhere new every day.Your Aravis ski pass also covers the Manigod area, giving you 220km of pistes of varying levels to explore, as well as extensive off-piste action.
Cross-country skiers will discover trails from St-Jean-de-Sixt - pick up a map from the village tourist office. Non-skiers are well catered for too, and can go ice skating or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open all year round, or try snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides.
There's just as much to do in the spring and summer at Chalet Colombine. The village of St-Jean-de-Sixt, just minutes from the chalet, is one of the few places where you can try Bun-J ride, a cross between ski jumping and bungee jumping! Other more traditional pastimes are available too - marked footpaths crisscross the mountains, or you can explore by mountain bike or on horseback.
There are indoor and outdoor swimming pool complexes in Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Thônes, or if you're looking for something a little more challenging, there are climbing schools, via ferrata routes, tree-top adventure parks, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
If you would prefer to relax at the chalet, the landscaped gardens are the perfect place, with a large deck, and a seating area with a fire pit and jacuzzi. There is also a boules piste for those with a little more energy!
There is a possibility that in winter you may need to park your car on the side of the road at the bottom of the approx 80 m long drive and walk up to the chalet. Please make sure not to park in a way that would prevent access to the drive as our neighbour sometimes needs to use it. Please ensure your vehicle is properly equipped for driving in the Alps in winter. Note about bedroom 7 (Dormitory) : 8 x single beds, 2 in each alcove (90 X 200cm) with an ensuite bathroom. The mattresses are next to each other and are not able to be separated as they are built in alcoves, as seen on the website photos.
