'The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. There was a good selection of tea and coffee and soap, shower gel etc. The pub and restaurant attached was fantastic and the food really lovely. We will definitely stay again'

'Nice posh hotel just located outside of the city centre (10 minutes walking to the shopping streets). Friendly staff, excellent breakfast, clean spacious rooms.'

'Plenty and easy parking. When I entered the bar, I was confronted with Theakstone's on draught, real ale, which is one of my all time favourites (only temporarily available) so I knew that my stay was going to be excellent. Nice food, very friendly staff and nice breakfast. It was my first stay, but hopefully not my last. My routing when travelling in the UK varies, but I hope I can include the Forest Lodge in my future travel plans. It would be worth driving a bit extra to arrive here. '

'Really great hotel in a perfect location... Our room was perfect, clean, large & well furnished. Bed, linen & towels all freshly laundered. Evening meal was well presented with lovely fresh local products. The menu and choices were very varied. ( Maybe not too much choice if you dont eat red meat. ) The dining room is well set out and in the summer months would be lovely to be able to sit outside ( we visited January 2026 ) The breakfast menu was equally charming and a difficult decision...

'Lovely hospitality. Excellent food. Best duvet nice and warm duvet I have had when traveling. They go above and beyond to accommodate guests. Perfect get away for some quiet time in a traditional old pub in a small village walking distance from the train station. Right next to multiple hiking paths to famous hill tops.'

'It's on a round-a-bout which means that you have to look for the carpark. There is one & it is close by. We didn't stay in the hotel but in the Coachhouse. Breakfast was very good, staff are friendly. Has all the facilities but it's greatest plus point is where it is. Although I can imagine that some rooms could be quite noisy. '

'Het hotel heeft een prachtige ligging en is van vroeger uit een herenhuis geweest. De stijl is ook grotendeels behouden gebleven. Het personeel is hartstikke vriendelijk. Jammer dat de kamers zo gedateerd zijn. Ontbijt en diner zijn prima. Dinerkaart mag wel wat worden uitgebreid. '
