'This is an amazing Ryokan. Close enough to the main attractions but a bit away from the modern parts of the city. It faces the Sai River and has trees, green spaces and walks around it. The rooms are spacious with Tatami mats. We took a suite and while the rooms had a Japanese feel it had western amenities. The breakfast was very good a the staff was helpful. The rooms had a full length balcony from where I sketched the town across the river.'

'This is a traditional Japanese hotel. Very different from what most western tourists accustomed to. No reception or check in. Very expensive. Rooms are large. There are signs of wear and tear everywhere. The traditional dinner is very expensive and literally inedible. Note: we are very familiar with Japanese cuisine but this was terrible. 'We stayed for 17 days. The listing states "ski in / ski out access". This is untrue. The property is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. There are portions of the walk that are unsafe if there is snow in the side of the roads, busses and traffic have to stop and go around pedestrians. The ski shuttle stop is at the resort. Uber/Taxi was 12 USD one way at the time of our stay/this review. There is no breakfast or food whatsoever at this hotel. There is one microwave for the entire hotel. It was...

'Erg fijne ryokan in Japanse stijl. Ik werd ontvangen door zeer gastvrije mensen, die mijn verblijf zeer naar de zin hebben gemaakt. Het traditionele japanse ontbijt was heerlijk.'
