'The room was fine, not exceptional, for me, as I was only staying for 6 nights. I hadn't booked breakfast as it was only offered on a Sunday, but there is a "Sandwich Stop" attached to the hotel in the car park. Parking was adequate, but trying to exit onto the busy main road was a nightmare, as the hedges were so overgrown and hadn't been trimmed, so it was impossible to see traffic approaching from both directions. 'The first night was noisy a car came into car park at 2am and was blasting music out and guest or two banging doors and knocking on door The second night was better. Only a two night stay for an event. Housekeeping on Saturday did not replace complimentary tea and coffee bin not emptied and beds not straightened up after 1st night. It's basic no thrills hotel. Also lift out of order.'

'Room clean and looked good but was stifling. No adjustment on the thermostat. Portable air cooler in the wardrobe. Switched on terrible smell. Checked inside water hopper was covered in stinking slime. No hot water to the sink. Terrible attitude of a couple of staff members. Breakfast was a sham. Tiny side plates for breakfast. Asked for a second coffee and was told they had run out and weren't making any more. This was 9.15 am. Barman tried adding on extra drinks. Would never return.'

'If you are visiting Holmfirth, the Elephant & Castle is the absolute best place to stay! The staff are so attentive and really make you feel welcome. 'If you are visiting Sheffield you can’t go wrong with a stay at this hotel. So easy into sheffield( we were at the Arena) lovely and clean and new. Fab staff and service and food was great in restaurant.'

'Pleasantly surprised at how large the room was. While there are a few areas of wear and tear, I found the room to be comfortable and clean. Bed was comfortable and even thought this location doesn’t have airco, they do have a fan in room. While small, the fan was sufficient to keep it cool enough for a good nights sleep. We would definitely return to this location, if needed, in the future. No info about breakfast because we didn’t need it but you are conveniently next to a service area so...

'Our stay was a journey down memory lane for me. The hotel was still lovely and popular, the room was clean and albeit small as a twin, it was in keeping with such a historic building and the lady on the bar, who checked us in couldn’t be more welcoming. The kitchen even catered amazingly for a veggie and a vegan option breakfast. The hotel is centrally located for the beautiful village of Eyam’s history trail, tea rooms and local walks with good parking facilities. '

I made a mistake leaving a shirt and jeans in my room after leaving, the staff were incredibly helpful in assisting me in getting the items posted back to my house - really went the extra mile. 'What a deceptively lovely place to stay. The exterior hides the warmth and friendliness inside. Beautifully up to date and simply designed interior. Easy to navigate and super clean. Access to the rooms can be up the fire escape stairs from the rear car park, best for us, or through the bar. And we took advantage of the cutlery and plates offered for our takeaway. Brilliant! 'Mooi gerenoveerd eeuwenoud gebouw, dus dan accepteer je sneller dat de kamers wat klein zijn. Nabij goede verbingswegen en het Peak district, in een van die schattige dorpjes daar.'
