Excellent value hotel/hostel a couple doors from the main drag in Adams-Morgan. Friendly, helpful staff, and great tips about the neighborhood and DC provided in your check-in materials. Feels very safe. Rooms I stayed in were clean, well-appointed, and recently renovated (small, but that’s not surprising), both with air-conditioning. Comfortable beds. This is not quite a full-service hotel - room was not cleaned daily during my stay (which I’m fine with). There are some food vending machines, free toiletries and laundry machines, a kitchen everyone can use, free safes if you need to store small luggage before or after checkout, and a printer, but few/no other services.
Fun neighborhood, tons of restaurants and bars. (It’s not close to a subway station though.) I stayed in two rooms - the one that was further west on Belmont (lower number room on the floor - 203 rather than 208) was somewhat quieter with less street noise.
