'This home is in the midst of renovations. This means a new fridge and also construction materials around the property (no fenced in yard for pets, plus empty bottles/gum wads, etc around construction area). The house is clean and new on the interior but does not look like the pictures in many way. We came here with a mobility impaired family member, the new high top kitchen table was a disaster. 'A small group of friends, myself, and my two dogs stayed here to watch the solar eclipse. The spacious backyard was the perfect place for eclipse viewing and the small town was close enough to Lake Placid for a morning shopping trip but far enough away to avoid the traffic. The house itself has GORGEOUS views, a relaxing hot tub (perfect for after a long hike), and a fully equipped kitchen. Overall it was the perfect home away from home to spend a long weekend.'

'We had a lovely time in this chalet in the woods. Everything was as described. Neighborhood was QUIET which is exactly what we were looking for. Close and easy drive to lake Placid for supplies. We thoroughly enjoyed the deck and the screened in porch was a very nice bonus. The cooking pots and pans could use updating - all are quite scratched up. Water pressure was good in shower. Communication with the host was terrific. Main bedroom is downstairs and as long as anyone staying upstairs is ok...

'The title of this home is perfect... Newly renovated lake house... It was our most comfortable VRBO rental ever, where the pictures UNDERstate the size and comfort of the living area, dining room (with a gorgeous table for 10!), and bedrooms (super comfortable beds and linens)! We loved our morning kayaks on the lake and sunset drinks on the deck!'

'It was cold during our stay and being right on top of the water there was a very large temperature gradient from the floor to ceiling. We had an infant sleeping in a pack n play on the floor and so it was necessary to blow a fan and move the air. The temp at the floor on our baby monitor was reading 61 while the heat in the room was set to 77. So be aware if you have an infant. Additionally the floor was bowing and popping up in many places. Likely due to extreme temperature swings or humidity....

'We only needed it for a short stay. In the winter. It was a short ride to lake placid. It was clean, heat worked, had hot water, enough rooms and beds to sleep in. Had all the basics to get by. Just no toaster. Would stay again. The only thing I can say didnt work well. Was the wifi. But it was nice to disconnect. Just Hard to reach our loved ones in the evenings and find local places to get things.'

'The rooms are similar to small apartments. they have a living room and kitchen along with a large bathroom and large room. absolutely fantastic and beautiful place. it is a 5 minute drive from all the restaurants and shops '

'We had the best cabin maybe, Hemlock. I can't comment on all of them, but our friends' was smaller and darker inside. Hemlock was great. It has a good kitchen. '
