“Superb hotel in Venice”

A really great hotel - if I ever go back to Venice, I will definitely stay here again. My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in April 2012, and the Hotel Abbazia was the best part of our trip to Venice. The hotel is in a great location - 5 mins walk from the train station, 10 mins (with heavy luggage) walk from the bus and coach stops in the Piazzale Roma, and just 2 minutes away from one of the main vaparetto stops. Built in a former monastery, the hotel is not too big, not too small, and has real character to it. The room was a decent size, and was tastefully decorated in a traditional style. It's tucked away on a side street (though is really easy to find - check out the hotel's video on YouTube for directions), but isn't far from shops, cafes and restaurants. Initially I was dubious about staying in Cannaregio, thinking it would be too far from San Marco's, however, I really liked this district. It's 10-15 min walk to Rialto Bridge, and 25-30 min walk to San Marco's, but given how both of those areas were heaving with tourists, Cannaregio was a pleasant change (though it's no dull backwater area). The only downside was that our room was too warm - I think we were above the kitchen (though they have aircon), and the breakfast room is quite small (so was a bit packed during the 8.30am - 9.30am rush). However, the breakfast was so good (although just a continental breakfast buffet, I ate so much I didn't need any lunch!) that it made up for it.

“Stay here!”

Loved it! Excellent location, walking distance from the train station. The hotel is in an old palazzo, very attractive. Our room was newly renovated, comfortable. The staff was very friendly and charming. Breakfast was great.

The staff was fantastic, good sense of humor and lots of good information on sightseeing. Breakfast was good, all the help could not do enough for us.

This is a lovely hotel with a garden in a very atmospheric area of Venice. Almost adjacent to the station in a quiet little street but yards from lively bars, restaurants and mouthwatering shops. Easy and pleasant walking distance of all the sights. The nicest hotel staff I have ever come across (not to mention handsome)and simple but extremely comfortable rooms with super bathrooms. Don't miss this treasure, the bar alone is worth a visit.

Front desk staff made all the difference in the world - kind, helpful and humorous. Great location near water bus and train station. Good facilities. Delicious breakfast. Reasonable price. Highly recommended.

“Great Value ...”

We just returned from a month in Italy. This marks my sixth trip to Italy and third to Venice. Our stay (for three nights)at the Abbazia in Venice was great! The location ... a short walk from the train station, the quiteness of the hotel (except for the church bells at 7:15 am),nice breakfast buffet, and friendly staff made for a most pleasant stay. Mille Grazie!

“Fantastic Reception Team”

We stayed at the Abbazio druing the recent "volcano delays" - the staff on Reception (Matteo, Mirko and Alvesi) were more than helpful and all have a great sense of humour - they are a credit to their management and kept us sane during what were very difficult times. Would throughly recommend the hotel the ambience is good and the location great - about 10 minutes walk over the bridge from Palazza Roma. The Grand Canal is about 50 yds from the front door with all vaporettas and water taxis etc available, great position. When we return to Venice we will be staying here.

What a wonderful hotel. Kind, friendly staff, a beautiful garden, lovely facilities, generous bar staff (!), delicious breakfasts, an incredibly convenient location. We didn't want to leave! I won't miss the morning bell ringing though...!

Me and my husband stayed in Venice for 2 days, Hotel Abbazia coulnd't be any better, great location, awsome stuff. We are already planning to stay there when we go back to Italy in 2 years!

“Great Venician Getaway”

Great hotel just steps from the train station, but miles from the hustle and bustle. What an amazing place where you could turn down one little alley and disappear from the tourists. The hotel staff was fantastic and the restaurant recommendations of Mairko were spot-on! Sure, there are the bells, but with almost 600 churches in Venice, there are always bells. The very good AC was a welcome luxury we would come to miss dearly the rest of our trip! The morning breakfasts in the courtyard were long the talk of the trip as well. We would definitely recommend this oasis of comfort in a city of magic and romance. Easy walk to everywhere and if you're taking the train into Venice, there can be no other choice!! I guess you could say that we loved it and would stay again!
