Although there is no running water the host was very friendly and accomodate for us and always made sure we had what we needed. Definitely recommend if you want to stay on an affordable boat in the canals of Amsterdam!!'

'We enjoyed the location tremendously; and, staying on the boat added a charming ambiance to our Amsterdam experience. On the other hand, it is very tattered, dated, rickety and an electrical nightmare. Extension cords and hidden switches everywhere and very dimly lit. Floors covered with throw rugs that all overlap; the walls and ceilings covered with fabric that has been stapled on. And, used toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet. So, if you don't mind dealing with all the oddities, go...

'Such a great location. Close to everything and quiet which was exactly what we were looking for! Host was wonderfully accommodating which we really appreciated! Only very very minor complaints were the water didn’t get hot enough to utilize the bath, (I like scalding hot baths!) and the internet was in and out a bit. Everything else was amazing! Would absolutely stay again.'

'Beautiful 2-level space located within the bow of the family home (a small ship). One’s quarters are completely separate from the vessel’s full time occupants. The space is modern and clean, with wide open views over the river IJ. I biked there, multiple times back and forth to the city center. Pleasantly located away from the crowds, but an easy bike to the Central Station and main Canal Districts. Bike rack just onshore. Guest must be able to navigate spiral staircase connecting upper & lower...

'We had a great longer weekend near Amsterdam. The owner were very friendly and helpful for the start of our staying. The houseboat is perfectly equipped for a couple and very comfortable. With the two bicycles, part of the houseboat, it was very easy to reach city centre'

'This houseboat is not fancy - but it is as comfortable as being at a friend's cabin - we didn't want to leave. We had not stayed in Amsterdam before, so wanted our first few nights to be something unique. The boat was perfect! It was close walking to everything, yet it was quiet and relaxing once inside. 'Het is bijzonder om in zo’n boot te slapen, maar bij warm weer niet te doen. Je kan helaas de ramen niet open maken om te ventileren, omdat de muggen naar binnen komen. Het zou fijn zijn als er een manier is om een hor te plaatsen, bijvoorbeeld bij de opening op het dak of zo mogelijk bij een raam?'

'The houseboat meets or exceeds expectations from photos and descriptions. It is very well appointed with great amenities and in a great location. Robertino, the host, is very communicative and welcoming, and also a great source for recommendations in the area. We have stayed in Amsterdam before but have never experienced it like this and would highly recommend. It is a destination in itself.'

'Süßes kleines Hausboot - wir waren zu dritt dort - mehr wäre dann evtl. anstrengend. Die Beschreibung und Ankunft war perfekt beschrieben, so dass wir gleich die Schlüssel gefunden haben. Der Ort Monnickendam ist sehr süß und wir haben in einem abgesperrten Hafenbereich gelegen, von da aus konnte man alles zu Fuß erreichen. Die Bushaltestelle ist fast vor der Haustür (an der Hauptstraße) und ein Bus fährt alle 6 Minuten nach Amsterdam Centraal - die Fahrt dauert ca. 20 Minuten.'

'De kamer was zeer ruim en over het algemeen vrij proper. Er waren ook verschillende zaken voorzien in de keuken (bv. pannen, borden, bestek, spons en afwasmiddel). De personeelsleden aan de balie waren steeds vriendelijk. Op wandelafstand bevindt er zich een tramhalte waar regelmatig trams naar Amsterdam passeren. Fijne locatie om te vertoeven na een werkdag.'
