'This a great place to stay that is in the Victorian era mode. I hope the basic decorum and vibe of the place never changes. It is a throw back to another era and all of the pictures from earlier times in Kolkata and the hotel and news clips are very interesting. Yes there maybe some pealing paint (which to me is part of the charm) but there is a touch of class throughout - e.g. white table cloths, real crystal wine glasses, antique furniture. The staff is well trained and eager to please. ...

'My room was clean and comfortable, the mattress and pillow were soft and plush and the bathroom was clean, well lit, and had modern hardware in great condition. So many hotel bathrooms I stay at in India are pathetic but not the case here. Also I had to check out at 3am and the staff helped me order a taxi to the airport (just a 5 min drive away at 3am) and carried my bag to the curb and talked to the driver for me since I only speak English. Would gladly stay again. '
