'Excellent dog-friendly hotel with superb personnel who connect with the guests. Great location in borrowdale.'

'The food in the restaurant was first class and the staff were friendly and always helpful'

'Value for money budgetary hotel but clean and good amenities for the money pool and gym good sized bedrooms plenty of parking onsite'

'Armathwaite Hall is primarily a spa, which detracts from the atmosphere of the Castle/ Hall. The Indian restaurant in the Castle doesn't make things any better.'

'Loved the balcony, more like a little garden. Very comfortable stay, spa bath in room was a nice surprise. Spa facilities were good amazing ❤️'

'At the fringes of the town, so it’s quieter. There is no lifts at Lakehouse so please ensure you get the ground floor if you have difficulty climbing stairs, especially with big luggage.'

'A very pleasant one night stay in a very comfortable standard room. Tea making facilities were welcomed and the Hotel is only a 10 minute walk from the station. Buffet breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day. The building itself is a lovely historical place and we had a peaceful nights sleep. Bathroom was modern with a great sized shower. '

'Wat een geweldige 3 nachten hebben we in de Grange gehad, wat een enorme toewijding en liefde hebben de eigenaren voor hun B&B! Ik heb veel gereisd maar dit verblijf staat stevig in mijn/ons top 3. Bedankt & hopelijk tot ziens! Saskia & Jeroen'

'Hotel is ok. Gezellig. Maar heel oud. Overal is oud, kan verbeteren. Maar ok. Goedkoop hotel. Eendagje slapen en weg rijden ideal. Personeel eerlijk goed, vriendelijk, behulpzaam.'

Receptioniste...

'Erg mooi hotel, heerlijk gegeten en erg vriendelijk personeel.'

'As a first time visitor to the Borrowdale Gates Hotel I have to say what a wonderful experience. The location was perfect with access to many hiking trails. The staff were pleasant and very attentive to our needs, the facilities including the restaurant were excellent, serving very high quality food. After spending several days at the Hotel I am convinced we will be returning. From two happy customers.'

'Good location, friendly helpful staff Great cooked breakfast. Room under the roof a 'ittle warm'

'The rooms were so dirty, Its like entering a once verry nice house. But the moment you enter the room it smells duff and diguisting. The rooms are weird when you enter you immidiatly go down a bunch of stairs. The bathroom looks like it hasnt been cleaned in centuries and the tiles of the floor are lose. My bed had a blood stain from someone on the blanket witch was disguisting. Dont recommend staying here unless you absolutely have to!!! Personel was nice tho'

'Many trafic a lot of noise'
