'The best hotel in Bacalar. i have been coming to Akalki for over 14 years and never disappoints. Take note that the bungalow rooms on the water ( 1-4) do have air conditioning - the website ( expedia listing ) is not clear about that. Make sure to take a tour to go visit the temple and take Akalki boat tour on the water with your captain Yan. Every morning there is a holistic experience of either sound healing, yoga , meditation - endulge in these experiences as well. The spa is also incredible...

'Een van de eerste hotels in het gebied en dat is goed merkbaar. Ligt direct aan het meer, een prachtige locatie, maar zoals veel reviews al meldden, mag er wel iets aan onderhoud gaan gebeuren. Wij hadden een kamer waarvan de terrasdeur niet op slot kon, het was niet heel schoon en erg vriendelijk was het personeel ook niet. Behalve Christian die de boottocht voor ons verzorgde (200 peso's per persoon, meteen vanuit het hotel op de boot stappen) . Het ontbijt is oké, duurt wel wat lang. '

What we loved most? 1) The direct access to the lake, where you can go kayaking or use a paddleboard in the early morning or during the day, enjoying the quietness and beauty of the lake and the surrounding nature. 2) The beautiful scenery in the jungle, far away from the crowds. 3) The room itself had everything we were looking for, we loved the friendly and helpful staff and liked the food at the restaurant. 'Vanwege het uitzicht kozen we voor een bungalow. Het uitzicht was inderdaad prachtig, maar de stoeltjes op het balkon waren zeer oncomfortabel. Aan het uiteinde van de pier stonden wel een paar ligbedden. De wifi in het huisje was ronduit slecht, voor wifi moest je naar het hoofdgebouw. Er was weinig kastruimte, alleen een rek met een paar hangers. Koelkastje en kluisje ontbraken ook. Het (overigens vriendelijke) personeel sprak nauwelijks Engels.
