Room was spacious but I hated the tatami mats in the bedroom, it was old and tiny bits of the tatami was everywhere in the room that it got on our clothes and bed. I've stayed in many ryokans around Japan with tatami mats and not once did I experience one that was so poorly maintained. Toilet was old, a little too dark and cold during showering, amenities can be improved. The room was dusty too. Breakfast was moderate but...

'Hotel Nord Otaru is located across the street from the canal. It has a good view of the canal, but the ocean view is far away and unimpressive. The rooms are dated. Our shower room smelled like mildew and there was some visible mold on the ceiling. The room size is larger than typical for Japan. The breakfast buffet was mediocre but convenient. The Hokkaido ramen was good. The bar upstairs had a nice ambiance but they were out of several types of alcohol and their signature cocktail. It’s...

'Ski slope shuttles came every 15min and were great. Breakfast was good. Rooms were well designed for storage and very clean. Huge bonus was heated radiator in room for drying wet ski equipment. Ski equipment storage room for skis and boots was very warm and convenient on ground floor next to bus pickup. '

'The room was spotless and spacious. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. The hotel offered many amenities, including a shuttle to and from the mountain, arranging a ride to the airport, ski lockers and complimentary food upon arrival. Will absolutely book here again for our next holiday! '

'Nice stay, very close to Hirafu Welcome area and ski resort, staff were nice gave us early check in however they did made a mistake telling us that check in is at 1pm when its actually 3pm. Our room has a private onsen facing Mt Yotei which is great'
