My room was all the way in the back end of the hotel. The gentleman in charge at the reception offered to walk with me to my room. He insisted I would get lost if he didn't, and he was right. 'The Belfry is brilliantly well run. The staff are by far the best I've ever met in any hotel in my entire life. Truly brilliant. Friendly, engaging, funny, professional and confident. Proud of where they work and their part in it. Not unctuous just terrific. They should let the managers run the country. And before you dismiss my enthusiasm for the ramblings of someone who doesn't get out. I travel the world always staying at the best hotels. The Belfry was my third that week.'
