'My family and I were only staying the weekend for a competition. We didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for a hotel room. We saw the reviews and thought ok, This will be fine. Little did we know we were DEAD WRONG! Our first room had empty beer bottles in one of the drawers and the bathroom door was locked. The second room didn't have a lock on the bathroom, what looked like a shart stain on the mattress and a mouse trap beside the bed, our third room had a horrible smell. We ended up leaving...

'One night stay here after staying at their sister hotel in Raleigh. The property itself is fine but no atmosphere compared to Raleigh. Easy parking, clean and comfortable room. Not much to do within walking distance, except a burger takeaway. We tried to walk to a nearby microbrewery. It should've been a 5 minute walk, but we found it impossible to cross the 6-lane highway in front of the motel so gave up and went back to our room. 'The Blue Door Cottage is a wonderful get-a-way. The guesthouse is warm and inviting. The grounds are beautiful. The pictures on the site are on point. Our family enjoyed walking to see the neighbors' alpaca and horses. Would definitely recommend.'
