lovely one night stay
We only stayed for one night but wish we had booked more. This hotel thinks of everything, we mentioned we were travelling with a young child and they had prepared a cot for him as requested but also included a nappy bin and a sterliser without us even having to ask. The breakfast is the best inclusive breakfast I have had in a long time and the grounds are beautiful.

Exceptional
The best hotel we have ever stayed in. Above and beyond. The hotel itself is beautiful, well kept gardens and lovely rooms. The staff at the hotel and the two restaurants were fantastic. So well looked after without being overbearing. We stayed two nights and they were so special. Little touches like hot water bottles, printed itinerary and wine tasting went a long way. Couldn’t rate highly enough. Special mention to Manny and Conrad who welcomed us and made our stay extra special.

Das Quartier Francais ist eine wunderbare Unterkunft. Einzig unstimmig ist angesichts des Preises, dass für einen Orangenjus aus der Minibar am Schluss ZAR 30 verrechnet werden.

Another wonderful stay at Le Quartier Francais, the service was outstanding! And such a friendly, beautiful place too. Very helpful with free lifts to local restaurants as well, if you wish to go further afield. Highly recommended.

TheI intetior design is fantastic. Bright bold colors mixed with white walls and sisel rugs. They had radiant floor heating which was great because we were there in the winter. It’s in the heart of Franschhoek which is great if you want to walk around the town. Finally the breakfast which was included was terrific! The french toast which was covered in a fruit sauce, fresh berries and grilled bananas was yummy!

Luxury in Franschoek
It was a wonderful stay in very comfortable accommodation. The staff were friendly, the complimentary shuttle service was very nice, and the wine tasting was lovely. Slightly surprised they didn’t acknowledge our wedding anniversary (we had emailed it through in advance) but all in all it was a great stay.

Great location in Franschhoek as well as beautiful surroundings. The staff is also excellent and breakfast at the restaurant was very nice. Personally, l find the property a bit synthetic and affected. It’s not a classic luxury property but more a newly built and decorated complex that in my opinion doesn’t do justice to the heritage of the region. For the prices charged, I would have expected more. Some other reviews reflect that too. It is more a question of preference and my wife loved it. I would go to a more classic property like Lanzerac when going back to that region.

Dejligt hotel med stort velmøbleret værelse og god morgenmad. Lækkert poolområde. Meget serviceminded personale. To restauranter på hotellet, der begge er outsourcet, serverer rigtig lækker mad, men kræver bordbestilling til middag, hvis man vil sikre sig bord. Desværre ingen lobby- eller opholdsområde udenfor restauranter og poolområdet, hvilket vi manglede.

This property changed hands about 2 years ago and is now part of Leeu Estates which has three properties - two in the town centre and one outside town at the vineyards. Le Quartier Francais has 32 rooms and no longer has its previous boutique atmosphere. Breakfast is in Protege restaurant which is rented out to a third party but Le Quartier Francaise guests have breakfast there. Breakfast is superb - quality of food is outstanding and excellent choice and service. Hotel has a nice serviced pool area but only 16 sunbeds so this could prove limiting when the hotel is fully occupied although we experienced no problems. Grand rooms have a small patio area near their entrance with a table and two chairs but there is no privacy as these rooms face onto the pool area and there are other guests walking by to get to their rooms. The petit garden rooms provide a private garden space. If you are noise sensitive, a couple of the petit garden rooms are troubled by noise/vibration against the wall of your bedroom from air conditioning units or one room close to the kitchens of Protege has cooking smells in its private garden. Protege restaurant is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of the staff are kind, friendly and efficient and go out of their way to provide every assistance to their guests.

Das Hotel ist wirklich sehr luxuriös. Allerdings muss man sagen, dass der Service beim Frühstück bei diesem Preis definitiv besser sein kann, wenn nicht sogar sein muss. Auch die Tatsache, dass man als Gast der Villa auf die Aufmerksamkeit der Rezeption angewiesen ist, da sich das Hoftor nicht durch die Schranke öffnet wenn man nicht mit dem Auto davor steht ist etwas ärgerlich, da man unter Umständen noch mal zurücklaufen mus, um der Rezeption Bescheid zu geben, dass das Tor geöffnet wird. Bei einem solchen Preisniveau erwarte ich da etwas mehr Aufmerksamkeit. Insgesamt ein wirklich sehr luxuriöses Haus, bei einem solchen Übernachtungspreis in Südafrika hätte ich aber vim Vergleich zu anderen 5***** Hotels einen deutlich besseren Service erwartet.

Excellent accommodations; friendly and professional staff; beautiful and spacious rooms and bathrooms; location in central Franschhoek is outstanding. Need an excellent on premises restaurant! Only a mediocre Thai restaurant now there. Avoid! The 5 star restaurant La Petite Colombo is not part of the hotel so you will not get a reservation there unless you book way in advance although the hotel website leads you to believe otherwise. Thus, when checking in, ask for a dinner booking at ”The Dining Room” and for transportation to get there. The Dining Room is at another De Leuw estate minutes away and well worth it!

The pool suite is advertised as having two bathrooms. It really only has one. It was recently remodeled and had a lot of kinks to work out. The staff was great.

Highly recommend the hotel. Service was excellent. The hotel is very centrally located and the ground are beautiful. The hotel car drove us to our lunch venue and to our hike at mount Rochelle nature park...all complimentary. Wonderful breakfast, and a great 8 course tasting menu at The Tasting Room.

A beautiful boutique hotel with wonderful food.
We stayed here for 3 nights in a petite garden suite. We did have some maintenance problems with the room. On arrival, the plug in the second wash basin would not stay down so we asked for it to be fixed. When we came back later, the maintenance man had just swapped them over on the two sinks so now the other sink would not hold water! We were tired & went to bed at 9.45 pm. At 10pm the upper floor guests came home and switched something on that caused a loud rumbling noise in our room.By 10.50 pm when the rumbling noise continued we contacted reception. They responded promptly & summoned a maintenance man.Within 10 minutes, the maintenance man identified it as a fault on the A/C unit of the upstairs room (which was against our exterior bedroom wall just over a metre away from our bed) and the noise stopped. We were just dropping off to sleep when the noise started again and we had to summon the maintenance man again. The following morning, as I attempted to open the front curtains, the pole and curtains fell onto me! There was no end stop on the curtain pole on the opposite end from the curtain I was trying to open so nothing to keep the pole in place. Due credit to the hotel, when informed of the issues, they responded promptly, identified they had problems sorting the noise issue from the A/C unit, so upgraded us to a lovely quiet suite. We enjoyed the 8 course gourmet menu in the Tasting Room which is superb, as is breakfast. Hotel staff are their greatest asset.

Great place to stay in Franschhoek.
We really enjoyed staying in the town and within walking distance of everything. The room was very cozy and we made a fire at night! The breakfast was great and the staff very friendly!

Incredible place to spend a few days. The hotel was we are Americas here on part of our honeymoon for three nights in June. right in the middle of everything and was easy to walk around town. They were very accommodating and drove us to and from a few reservations we made for lunch and wineries which ended up saving us a lot. I am Not sure if that is typical- it was the low season. They gave us some champagne and extra gifts since it was our honeymoon. All in all, very clean, extremely luxurious, cozy, worth the money!

LQF is truly a class act. The moment we made our reservations we received an email asking what time we were arriving and if they could do anything to make our stay extra special. The room was VERY special and the furniture was beautiful. The fireplace that was lit for us every evening was very romantic. The breakfast was spectacular. The dinner at the tasting room was a dining experience we will never forget...fantastic! However, what really makes LQF a wonderful 5star hotel is their service...their entire staff goes out of their way to make you feel special!!

It was difficult to leave...
We had a lovely room on the first floor overlooking the pool. It was big and all what we needed - al the mod cons a good addition was USB charging points. We had a chilled bottle of champagne waiting for is on arrival as it was out anniversary. We got a reservation at the #1 SA Restaraunt - The Tasting Room - otherwise very difficult to get in. The bar area the juke box was cool retro touch and the area outside was great for watching the tableau of Franschhoek. One gripe was the cold buffet part of the breakfast - it was trendy could be more functional - the fruit, muesli and yoghurt.

We had a marvellous stay. Hotel has a really relaxing vibe even though it is in the heart of the Town. We loved the mature gardens and all the little nooks and crannies. The service was good but not in your face. Amenities and location first class.
