We've stayed at this property before and liked the location and ease of use when we're in Des Moines. This 5 night stay will be our last at this property.
Upon check-in, we found out there was now a $10/night parking fee. In West Des Moines. In an unsecured, uncovered lot. That we had to pay ourselves via a 3rd party. Absolutely unacceptable. I asked about cancelling our reservation and was told there was a 48 hour policy, so we decided to stay.
The shower head in our room (807) was broken. I reported it. Never fixed.
We set the thermostat to 60. I doubt the room ever got below 70.
Des Moines was in the middle of a heat wave, but the pool was "Closed For Maintenance" for at least half of our stay.
When I checked out at 10:45am Saturday 6/28 there was only one person working the desk. I waited for 15 minutes to check out to make it clear our visit had been less than pleasant. The clerk said "I'm sorry to hear that" and nothing else. There was still a line when I left.
I've stayed in Motel 6's with exponentially greater focus on customer care and satisfaction. I don't know what's happened to this property, but it poisoned my opinion of it and definitely soured my overall opinion of Sheraton and Marriott in general.
Please turn it into a Spirit Halloween store and be done with it.
