The Penang museum of history
The museum hotel is gorgeous to look at and has a colonial feel to it. However, behind this beauty it balances between historic and outdated. The room is a bit squeaky, the rooftop has a nice view over the city. The hotel is situated at the border of the historic centre, so visiting places takes a small stroll or should be done by taxi.

Authentiek hotel, fijne sfeer
Prima hotel. Ietwat kleine donkere kamer, maar daar bevind je je toch niet erg veel. Bedden sliepen goed, het zwembadje is leuk om af te koelen en de sfeer die het hotel uitstraalt is erg fijn. Authentiek. Fijn hotel op loopafstand van alle bezienswaardigheden.

Geweldige service!
Geweldige service in hotel, aardig personeel, alles is mogelijk! Lekker ontbijt (complimentary). Verdere voorzieningen zijn beperkt. Wasservice is relatief erg duur.

Promises, Promises
I knew I had a problem when there was no parking when I arrived. Evidently, management does not check the plate numbers, so local F&B establishments take advantage; hence no parking in the PM despite 40% occupancy. Chose the hotel for "ample parking" despite its location, but there is parking available only in the mornings and evenings, so not easy to use the car to go out for lunch or shopping. Must stay out until the evening. Then, no internet on my PC in the room on 4 routers. Managed a connection with no bars (just the dot) to send off a couple of lengthy emails at one spot in the lobby. No images. Cell phone got a "dot only" connection in the room, 1 bar on the cell. Used the cell. Some other guests were using portable routers. Young staff was friendly but generally not knowledgeable beyond key tourist spots and therefore not helpful. Took a while to find a cafe with free wifi as most are closed during RMCO. Lots of promises, no action. At checkout: "Internet is working fine. No one is having any problems." Not! Several fruit flies in the room. At least a Mozzy, too, as woke up with three hives. Another guest was complaining of a dysfunctional toilet, though mine was fine. Such a shame - the physical plant is rustic but charming. Will not be returning any time soon.

I must rate this hotel at 5 stars. Although some facilities are a bit old, all of them are well maintained. The location is perfect and close to many tourists spots. Last but not least, their cat Leo is the best cat in Penang.

From the cheerful welcome with a towel to wash your hands and a nice smooth lemongrass drink, to the amazing employees, we didn’t want to leave. Reveena, one of the front desk clerks, is the most delightful young lady and truly is an asset to the hotel. We had a complication with losing a phone and she worked hard to help us get it back, even stayed past her duty time. We are forever grateful to her. Our King suite was absolutely breathtaking and we couldn’t get enough of the friendly cats that are part of the hotel staff. ❤️

Beautiful Heritage hotel. Comfortable room. Well kept. Lovely front desk staff. Very Helpful and always smiling! Lots of good food options within a few minutes walk. Easy to walk to all the sights. Bathroom a bit dated. The pool should not be advertised as such. You can really only dip your feet.

Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Easy access to bus. Be aware some bus drivers don't stop for whatever reason. I have 4 buses passed me and other tourists. I mean they act like they don't see you standing there with your hand waving them down. It is a problem for the foreign people who lives there as well but they say they report but nothing was done.

Regular rooms are rather small and dark and face a wall, though they have nice furnishings. As do all the public areas. The breakfast hot offerings were served tepid because the plates had been arranged in advance. Solution is to order the muesli. The pool was a delightful bonus for chilling after a long hot day. The staff were gracious and helpful. Our sink and shower did not drain very well. Nor did the sink in the room of a friend. We were moved one night to one of the rooms on the street side because of the drainage problems which had lots of light and room, and was absolutely lovely but would surely have cost twice the price had we had to pay for it. The hotel is a nice quiet location with easy access to nearby restaurants. Another bonus was the roof deck with a lovely view over the city.

中心地よりやや離れており通りからのアプローチは袋小路状態の場所に位置する。 夜中に徒歩で帰る場合などはその道に全く人気は無く暗いため1人での徒歩には不安を感じる。 フロントの愛想は良いのだが、頼んだ事を引き受けたのに実行しない。(金庫が最初から閉じてロックされていたため使用出来ない) タオルは補充するが何故か古いタオルは回収しない。 トイレットペーパーが切れているのに補充しない。 どれも頼めば良いのだが、上記のように愛想良く引き受けるが実際には行動しない。仕方なく廊下に出ている掃除婦に直接頼む事数回・・良くある東南アジアの中の下レベルのホテル。

Rooms are clean and cosy with antique-styled renovation. What's more important is the hotel staff are super firendly. Ryan-the one who works at the front desk is super warm and professional.

Utmärkt boende för få nätter
Vi bodde här i två nätter och trivdes jättebra. Personalen var trevlig och väldigt hjälpsam. Våran safetybox fungerade inte när vi kom så vi fick byta rum direkt. Det krånglade med tvättservicen som man kunde använda vis hotellet (de missfärgade en skjorta) men personalen hjälpte oss att lösa detta! Skulle absolut bo där igen, väldigt billigt med tanke vad man får. Positivt: personal, service, duschen var rymlig och ren, sängarna var inte så hårda som de kan vara på många andra hotell i Asien. Fint hotell. Negativt: mörka rum då fönstret öppnas in i ett litet utrymme mellan husen, ej möjlighet att ladda telefon bredvid sängen och lite unken doft i rummet som dock försvinner när ac:en sätts igång.
