'I did like the location of this hotel. it was right downtown Hamilton. Very near the Jackson Square mall. And it has a (expensive) parking garage. And some of the staff where very nice,polite and helpfull. But that was about it in a positive way. Now for the downsides: They don't accept cash, till you say: I only have cash... A hotel is not a car rental. Hotels should accept cash. Period. There are only 2 elevators for 16 floors. Very long waiting time for the elevators. Imagine when 1 elevator...

'The room layout and the staffing were superb, and the other amenities were done in a thoughtful way. As a first-time visitor, I found that the parking instructions for check-in were unclear and there should have been a curb cut for 2 more vehicles to accommodate check-in. I had to park on the street and walk 2 blocks in order to check-in.'

It is located on a street with many food and bar options, including a rooftop bar (which was not open during our stay) but it is not noisy. Note that there is no in-person staff. 'The price was the best of a bad lot. Even cheap hotels with no amenities feel free to gouge. They charge the maximum for a security deposit. The single employee at the desk was very accommodating, but for a poor business. Everything looked clean, we hope it really was. In a room with 2 queen beds, there was 1 skinny “towel” (rag, really) in the bath. No bath mat. No cups provided for teeth brushing or drinking. Telephone was a broken ancient model so we couldn’t call for our needs. No hangers...

'The hotel is nice..staff and room wonderful. The hotel has a restaurant but is not open at this time. Hotel is not near anywhere to get a decent coffee or breakfast. You are paying the same price as many hotels who offer either a breakfast(free or pay) or are beside a Tim Hortons. Will not return until restaurant is open.'

'I loved everything about Rose Arden. I had a very comfortable overnight stay in a single room in a lovely home that was perfect for my visit with an old friend who lived nearby. It was great value and in a beautiful quiet location with an amazing view. The host couldn't have been more helpful. And the breakfast was wonderful. If I visit Hamilton again I’ll definitely want to stay at Rose Arden.'

'Heating was noisy and very dry air. When you turned it of it was too cold in the room within one hour. Restaurant next door quit and when I asked the desk where I can find a restaurant she send me to a gasstation. Never go there again.'
